It starts to beg the question if a scrambling QB with a run block OL could work if they can get out of most sacks.

Problem is with a run block oline is the dline beyond them cuz they can't hold a pass block?

If the QB is using Drop Back Grip and Drop Back Power, he is in pass mode. Thus he is passing. Thus the oline is pass blocking.

They aren't run blocking until he has pulled down and started running. At which point several defenders are most likely in his face considering most people are rushing both OLB's and a 4 man dline.

Makes total sense...even with my rQBs I can't set them to rollout/scramble frequently because they always run into a sack. Even at Journeyman. It seems to be a useless tactic atm.

Just want to get some people's thoughts on DBG (Drop Back Grip). I heard that it doesn't really help on fumbling while being sacked. Has anybody not put much into DBG and avoided fumbling the ball while being sacked?

1) It works; and
2) It isn't a very important skill.

---

Most of the time you aren't going to take the sack.
When you do take the sack, even with no investment in DBG, you aren't going to fumble.
Half of the time when you do fumble, you aren't going to turn the ball over.

That being said, I've started adding it to my EB QB, but only because I've run out of useful places to spend SP. So my Pass Power, Drop Back Power, and Drop Back Grip are all now sitting in the mid 30s.

You don't think pass power is important?

It is getting more important, but I'd like to increase it slowly to monitor the effect on the short and long range accuracy of the QB, as well as the completion % due to nearby traffic.

I'm a big fan of it. Great when a laser hits a WR on a corner route before the defender can get close enough to deflect or initiate a KL.

This is what I'm thinking. Especially if a fast WR has Catch in Stride.

Is this where you tell us Cleveland has higher pass power than anyone you have seen?

Kidding of course but I've felt great thus far about qb's adding pass power and just seen a great throw from my rookie qb today that led the wr.

I've seen quite a few throws where it looks like my QB just doesn't have the power to hit my wide open WR in stride. I've been wondering if I increased it a bit more if he would hit WRs in stride.

I've seen a lot of plays where the WR decides to turn away from the ball at the last second on a stretch route. Either didn't have the awareness, or that's what they are coded to do.

I've noticed this too, my theory is that the WR sees the ball and just can't jump high enough to get it.
