RI is the team i'm worried about, they stopped us once, but I think there was some good rolls in their favor….we'll see

Outside of that lucky broken tackle 67 yard run, ya'll were on pace for an 80 yard day on offense. That's a bunch of good rolls in RIF's favor. So many in fact, it's like it's by design

We'll see how that design holds up I'm excited for round 3

#184 Jesse Venturas versus #191 Charleston Commandos

Last game, the Venturas got to play an inactive seasoned team. I predicted that even with the disparity in player development, the Venturas would be able to pull out the win. And they did with an impressive 21-10 showing.

This time though, they're playing an active sophomore team. While Charleston isn't exactly a powerhouse (obviously if they're playing a rookie team), they're at least active. That's a huge, huge thing as it means they might actually gameplan and have players on the field who've been kept up to date.

Charleston 10 - Venturas 3

Well - my Stunners rolled the dice and came out with a win. Yes, we ran it a lot.

It does boggle the mind how many teams simple don't attempt to find out what plays shut down the outside running game. it truly is the ultimate pubstomping strategy.

I agree - it feels dirty...but playing an above 500 team that is a season ahead - there seems to be no choice but to run what might work a lot.

I don't blame you. Defensive Coordinators sometimes must learn by fire.

I'm slowly moving to the opinion that there aren't plays by themselves that stop it. The avocado condiment defense tried running the latest fav (2 Strong Corner Fire), but because they don't have the right defenders in the right spot, ti really didn't matter. My QB's ran for over 200 yards and 5 TD's.

Conversely, my defense held their rushing attack to 3.6 yards per carry simply because way, way back I realized that entirely too many rookie teams were building outside run games, and I started encouraging my guys to add all the skills they'd need to deal with it.

This. I did it too late which means some of my defenders aren't up to scratch. Meaning we are still susceptible to it.

Pursuit brb and awareness in the right places are needed

So many times watching that play the Cb2 takes some awful angles to the qb when he is behind the blockers

Also the CBs rush style is important.

#5 Lincoln City Red Imps vs. #2 All Madden

When I looked at the matchup for this game, I saw a whole bunch of 1's on All Madden's side, and a whole bunch of random numbers on the Red Imp's side. This would give the initial impression that All Madden is the hands down better team. But you have to remember that those matchup numbers are league stats so while things might look good for All Madden, they might also just be in an easy league. Of course, that's not the case as All Madden is in the same league as Alaskan Assassins, so you can put at least some faith in those numbers.

The thing is, I just can't shake the feeling that the Imps are on a tear. They've won their last 5 straight, and none of them were all that close. It's like they've finally found that last little tweak to their team that they needed.

Red Imps 35 - All Madden 24

Lincoln wins a defensive battle - essentially decided by turnovers in the red zone 7-3

Everytime a rookie cornerback is built that doesn't invest in break run block up to 25 points by the first star, a kitten gets murdered!

Just FYI, it's a lot easier to get good run defending CB's when you tell them up front we're running a zone defense, and hence, are making absolutely no effort at actually stopping pass plays
