Jampy loves to argue and tell people they are wrong. When they argue with him - he busts wood in his trousers and his day is made.

He is trolling you Phantom. Don't waste your time trying to make valid points to him.

I second and third this suggestion. In fact, I'm going to go steal it and stick in the suggestions forum.

Don't come in here and lie.

Footwork is in damn near everything when a player isn't running in a straight line

Well my guy didnt invest anything in footwork and lead the league in sacks last season....so who is wrong?

This whole argument is confusing. Other then straight line running, side to side movement, turning, and backpeddaling, what other movement is there? Vertical movement? Also, answering posts with 'watch a play or two' and blasting people for offering an opinion isn't helping. It's actually hindering people's ability to find the actual answer. The fact is, the majority of answers are opinions/educated guesses because the majority of people posting have not written the code for the game. Footwork could very possibly affect a clean roll, but as it was stated earlier, it's not cool to post speculation.

imagine an over head view of a bot. now the bot is facing 12 o'clock. If it moves to the left or the right, or any direction while still facing 12 o'clock that is footwork coming into play. How fast he rotates is also footwork. Now if a bot is running straight ahead and changes direction that is quickness coming into play not footwork because the direction in which he faces changes. Make sense? That is why SA's like Juke and spin are based on footwork and not quickness. Because if you have seen Juke fire the bot moves side to side while still facing forward. Same with Spin cycle and Spin SA.

Exactly how you explained it is what I always thought footwork affected, but I don't have 50 dots or spend 12 hours a day watching replays, so I have no credibility.

I believe back peddling is also footwork. How does footwork affect back peddling? Do you think the speed at which a player backpedals is based on sprinting?

Sadly, it took me too many posts to figure this out. But, if nothing else, it helped me further my thinking about exactly what attributes do what, and which are most important for some positions. So I guess this whole thing still had its upside.

That's irrelevant... lol?

Ignore me lol, thats why i have 2 ships and im one of the better DCs in the game lol...

The easy way to explain footwork is everything that isn't straight,
buddy has spent 2 or so pages now bending my words trying to prove that footwork ISN'T everything that isn't moving straight.

Footwork does speed up your back peddle. How it works in regard to sprinting I honestly dont know. If I had to guess I would say that you wouldnt be able to back pedal any faster than your sprinting would allow you to go. Thats how I think it works but I wouldnt treat that as gospel

You for one shouldn't post anywhere, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

When the LB blitzes from the outside, they rarely take a straight line to the QB. They often appear to making a series of small changes in direction as they go, curving around the OT or G. I've always assumed that this was affected by Quickness, but this discussion is trending otherwise. Does Footwork improve the rate at which they run around a potential blocker?

Maybe in some small degree but I don't see the worth. Your investment in some of the other abilities is 100% more meaningful. Now putting that guy in coverage however, that is where things gets tricky.

For what it's worth, I started building my rookie DEs like I would in GLB1, putting my SPs in quickness, snap reaction, and speed. I ignored footwork and now find that I am blowing past the OTs too deep before making my turn toward the QB. Not sure if this is a common problem since I'm new in GLB2 but I am finding that more balanced builds are the way to go here over the specific attribute heavy GLB1 builds.
