Yeah, I'm not complaining about divisions. I like the setup as it is.

You can't really compare things to sports leagues in the real world because motivations are different. In the NBA they want to create more playoff games and more playoff series to generate more TV and stadium revenue, and they're willing to crap all over the regular season to get it.
The goal for GLB2 is to keep the playoffs short - I think in alpha at one point it was 2 divisions and 1 playoff game? - to keep every team playing as much as possible.

Lol that's just because people don't understand the ratings behind the ladder system, but that's a completely separate issue

They really aren't more competitive. In fact the biggest whine right now is that divisions are TOO competitive for people and they want easier ones.
You can spin your belief in my complaint however you want but this is completely untrue (at least from my perspective). I don't want an easy division, I want fair divisions (and could support no divisions). If Alpha and Beta were as competitive as Gamma, I wouldn't have said a word. I know that's impossible to predict, but its something that should be able to be improved upon as teams age.

Not necessarily true. The third best regular season team in Tiger missed the playoffs. We had one bad loss (in week 1) and the other three could have gone either way. I have no doubt we would've hung with any of the other three playoffs teams if we had a chance to play.

What does it matter, if you can't beat the team ahead of you in the regular season you can't beat them in the playoffs. This basically is an argument over 2nd place right now.

I believe -Phaytle- covered that in #8.
Besides...http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/13936...I'd hardly call that a definitive win. Portland just managed to go 1/2 on FGs instead of our 0/2. A third game would, imo, be very similar.

48-17 combined between the 2 games you played seems pretty definitive. And he didn't state anything convincing in #8 and most of his "points" are not even true.

Think about it for a second, you guys are suggesting a change that happened a very small number of leagues and wanting to change it for everyone. There is a reason that the majority of the posters here don't like the idea.

Eh. I've historically done poorly in week 1 going back to GLB1. I consider it a week 1 curse.

It doesn't matter how you think you would have done in the playoffs. You didn't get the job done in the regular season. That makes the regular season important. That means despite you guys being a really good team you were still needing to play hard in weeks 13 and 14. At the end of the day though, you weren't good enough to make the playoffs. Pretty simple.

Benefits of removing divisions
1)The best teams go to the playoffs.
A 3rd place Alpha team at 11-3 is a better team than a 1st place 9-5 Beta team.
Well this already happens? Besides a 3rd place alpha team definitely is not better than a 1st place beta team, since the beta tean figured out how to win in their division and alpha didn't Beta is better...

4)Each team has a more even chance at a playoff spot each season.
Every team already have an even chance at playoffs... Some teams are better than others, but since when has the pen & paper guaranteed performance?

5)Players will have more relative stats compared to their skill.
Explanation:When do players/teams usually acquire their best/highest stats? When playing the worst team(s) in their league.

6)Players will have a more even chance to win an MVP award, lead the league in a stat, achieve stat achievements, etc.
Explanation:This goes along with the last one, but is more directed toward agents getting a fair shot at earning trophies for their players.
MVP is a bad system, league leaders is all that matters imo..

7)Better rivalries are created.
Explanation: Is it really a rivalry when you've been in the same division with a team that is a sub .500 team each season and has never come within 14 points of you any time your two teams have every played?
In the words of DD: "You clearly have never seen Tiger Gamma"

8)Problems/complications attributed to the division system are removed.
Explanation: Now nobody can complain about themselves or anyone else being in a strong or weak division.
People will always complain, so making a major change just for the complainers won't solve anything.
This is all just imo

Rather than the wholesale change of totally eliminating divisions and creating new complaints from guys who hate that system, wouldn't it just be simpler to put a check box option in for owners willing to move to a new division within the same League? - - -
If they want to move it could be a simply check of the average ELO across all three divisions and you move the team (stronger or weaker) into a new division to make it closer to the ELO average of the other two.
