what about rosters? if you're going to make it more like college wouldn't you want teams to only have players for 5 seasons max(1 redshirt year)? that would make it really interesting.

Thanks for asking I went with 4 because it divides easily into up to 11 per class. Most of your rookie dots are so new they wouldn't fit at all on the roster. Sophomore level dots could at least participate in some level on special teams. It would be the same GLB2 roster size but you'd have:
Up to 11 Professional
Up to 11 Journeymen
Up to 11 Seasoned
Up to 11 Sophomore
Obviously most teams would scrimp one spot on the sophomore dots but that probably would make sense as their will probably be more sophomore leagues than any of the other tier groups on the non-college side so their need for players would be greatest when the demand for sophomore dots in the college group would be lowest.

I like this idea a lot would really like to see some rivalries and bowl games would be fun and so would the college atmosphere. My thoughts on this are what about if it was something different where new players would play a season or two up to four seasons in college with their players before being able to go pro. Only thing is that the players would be weaker than regular rookies. It should be optional so you are not forced to play in college. Team ownership would be complicated but make it so if you own a College team you cannot own a pro team at the same time. Now this is where this goes loco and impossible not a lot of people would like this part but what about adding a GLB draft after declaring their players for the draft they would participate in a draft combine sometime in the offseason where it is just a lot of scrimmages and where GMs could scout these players and then draft them and help develop them This could help new players develop their players so they could compete in the pro leagues and could add some realism.

Thanks for your compliment and agreement on rivalries. That said alot of the draft stuff is never going to happen so I don't think its worth asking about.
Asking about the staff at GLB2 creating an optional college like experience within the existing framework of GLB2 that doesn't take major code revision is something I think a good many people would get excited for and participate in without putting an undue burden on the code writing team or those in GLB2 who vastly prefer a pro style game.

Not really. It would be part of the GLB2 universe just kept somewhat separate in view that some people love the NFL game and some the college game. Would also dovetail nicely with the current veteran player system.

Really like the idea! Think it would add a lot of depth and help to prevent farm teams for sure! Also feel like most the people commenting either didn't even read what you proposed or didn't comprehend it very well.

TY, I think from a business development perspective it certainly makes a great deal of sense. It adds some new opportunities and avoids some potential pit falls that could limit the growth of players and owners in GLB2.
1. It adds a fanbase that really enjoys college football, that can be understated. I myself am more of an NFL fan (Go Bucs!) but the passion and enthusiasm of college football along with the demographics associated with most players of this game (Under 30) makes it a natural marriage partner.
2. Looking at farm teams this season in the Presidents League's they were dominated by well connected owners. Veteran owners have leveraged advantages in terms of gameplanning, Superstar connections, and veteran agents who know how to build. I was turning down SuperStar players simply for cap space (we had too many offers) on a farm team run by a friendly agent. Almost all the new guys got crushed, yes it would be ideal to have all the potential new owners play the game for a season or two before signing up to own a team but how realistic is that? At what point is too much losing going to cause them to throw up their hands in dismay and say "I quit" not just team ownership but GLB all together.
3. There are really only two ways to grow GLB2, more customers or the same customers spending more money. Fewer farm teams would give new unconnected owners a better chance at success and getting "hooked" on the game. Right now its about 6 or 7 farm teams (or well connected and networked teams) per league. Essentially crushing the 5-6 newbie teams that are out there. If you give those farm teams another option to go to, you'd get 2-4 farm(connected) teams per league - with 8-10 newbies. That would raise the average newbie record from a 2-12, 3-13 and "I quit" record to an average of 6,7,8 wins where they would look for improvement. Obviously its not a panacea single shot option, but I think its something that would open up a new customer base.
The real question is do you want to be radio shack or Walmart? Radio Shack has a small core customer base that attempts to drive value added to those customers (more high tech widgets at healthy margin) or Walmart (sells to many on lower margin but converts devotee's to high volume customers).

That was dumb. There is alot more that needs to be fixed in this game, before I Want them to be looking into some college nonsense. And if the game actually turned into a college game, they would not be "making more money" they would be losing money as some people (like me) would QUIT.
Now if its just some minor tier thing on off days, fine, but it doesnt sound like it since its taking you a novel to write your idea. And also, I doubt it would help new players much as College football is the most corrupt, un fair and unbalanced sport in all of America probably. It favors the best teams, and they feed on the weaker teams. This sounds like some dumb hobby to occupy the already entrenched farm teams, which I don't really care about, and wont make the game any more accessable to newbies.
Basically a dumb idea that should probably never be implemented. I don't see any advantage, and dumb college crap is completely worthless to me.

Did you read his suggestion? He is not saying to completely replace what we already have so why would it cause people to quit? His idea is to implement an option which increases depth and allows the game to be played slightly differently... an OPTION, meaning its not compulsory for you to play this way and you could use the current system instead.

Yes but it takes players and teams away from the current system. Same thing happened in glb1

In 5 seasons half of the players in this game will be at the veteran level. Teams will be constantly farm teaming to keep themselves high on the ladder.
Nothing stopping teams or players from forming a new team to play all 10 seasons together; just gives teams another option than a farm team while attracting new customers as well.
Also player creation is not a finite quantity, some of the current agents maybe willing to create more players to enjoy a slightly different experience than under the current system....even in GLB1 you had guys creating players for rookie ball that they had no intention of taking further.

Like the post below you points out, optional system all occurring before veteran status. That's why it took a novel to balance the existing needs versus the new.
You would also be case in point, you have an entire team of your own players, something you could easily still do start off in rookie ball and work your way to the veteran leagues. You also got crushed by the two connected network farm teams above you (Victorious Secret & Denver Demolition) who have tried and true tactics and vet agents. You were a respectable 7-6-1 no doubt, but other owners who were not heavily connected simply quit rather than to continually get pounded , how many inactives owners does your league have? -- Will they be back to play GLB2 in the future?

Who cares if YOU quit. There are more college football fans then NFL fans. College games are MUCH more entertaining than NFL games.
