it was. But all passing and running kinda was and it was masked a little bit by interceptions too.

Actually my guard does a lot of cleaning up on 3 man fronts - kinda cool to watch Spin Cycle fire, the rusher peels off the blocker and then my guard steps in and takes up the block. But no one is really hoping to get to the QB when they only rush 3 anyway.

IMO the guard play is the biggest difference between SF last season and Zorp! this season. I could get to the QB every play I rushed last season because there guards couldn't stop my LBs. Against Zorp! I don't think I've gotten to the QB at all that way.

Storm Brave was SF's only downfall last season and I didn't hardly ever use 5 WR so that probably is more the key than guard play.

it's possible. although, in my experience, zone takes longer to get off the ground than man, (and it seems like zone is worse agaisnt the run; maybe anecdotal, but even with higher zone awr than man awr, i noticed my safeties taking longer to recognize run and make stops vs 3/4wr runs) and it takes a whole lot of build coordination (if you don't want to create every dot yourself). i actually had originally planned for newzorp to be a zone team, but scrapped it.

Nope. http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/team/100 is a mostly zone D, and we get shredded through the air still. CBs reactions are somehow worse vs zone than they are vs man

And, for unknown reasons, zone awareness costs more to invest in than man awareness, which does some to further gimp zone teams

Though if anyone is down for a fully zone team for S3, talk to me, I'll make dots.

I was thinking specifically to combat the 4-5 WR plays. Haven't actually tried any yet, though.

yeah i feel like we're suffering from changes made during alpha? like zone was op so they fucked with it. because zone reactions are definitely much worse than man reactions, given similar awareness levels.

Air Raid's running exclusively zones on defense right now. You can watch our replays to observe zone defense in action.

the most interesting thing about zones is you're not tied to formations. I could run 5-2 against single back spread to shut down the dive plays if I were so inclined. I just trade LBs for CBs in those underneath middle zones. So long as you don't pick a "4WR" defensive play, you can run whatever else you like. The only difference in a dime cover 2 and a 4-3 cover 2 is that 2 LBs are replacing 2 CBs in underneath coverage and approach the zone from a different starting point.

Hah, good to know. We don't have anyone quite that extreme into Hands yet. We're on the "maybe we need more balance and receiving awareness?" stage of recovery at this point.
