cav, you are set to No Scrims. I know because I have tried to scrim you several times.

You can send out challenges regardless. You aren't supposed to be quick scrimming these.

Challenges are preferable, I'll send out reminders again to everyone today but if it comes down to it agree to a quick scrim and let me know.

Op updated with games I've recognised as being scheduled (Thanks to the teams that have sent them out!). Results are down the bottom of the post with links to the games in the schedule.

Looks like we had a cracking first game; when I have a bit of time later today we'll have a post match write up and a preview of the Maine/Alpine game tonight.

TT's Wolfpack of One @ Doinitin Djibouti (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970 )

The top ten tournament kicked off today with an early morning match with TT visting Djibouti. Before the game it was clear TT was confident with the trash talking already beginning in the Djibouti forums. It became apparent that the number 1 seed and heavy favourite tag was making Parab00n nervous with all challenges sent out for a day earlier than planned! Statistically two closely matched teams and although TT is ranked as the 10th seed he has moved to 7th on my latest rankings update.

The game began poorly for Djibouti with a wide open drop by WR One which led to a 3 and out. The Wolfpack fared slightly better on their first drive but it wasn't long until Djibouti had the ball back. Unfortunately a fumbled snap (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/697930 ) stalled Djibouti's next drive.

The Djibouti defense came up big though providing the offense with a short field after an amazing intercept by Winston Decker (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/697956 ). Parab00n's team does not waste chances like that and the drive was capped off by a 5 yard run up the middle by Too Much Power (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/697978). The Wolfback drove straight back though with two huge 3rd down plays first bringing them into striking distance (3rd and 10 http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698015 ) and then a big through across the field into the edge of the endzone for the score (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698021 ).

As the second quarter began Djibouti seemed to have found their stride on offense as they drove all the way to the Wolfpacks 25 however WR One's poor day continued as he over ran a pass from Money Ball on a crucial 3rd down (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698058 ). The quarter continued uneventfully with both teams being able to move the chains but then stalling mid field. Djibouti had a scoring chance in the dying moments of the half with a 45 yrd field goal but although the kick by I Kick Midgetz had the distance it was not accurate enough.

After a fiery half time pep talk by owner/coach Time Trial the wolfpack came out and drove for the first touch down of the second half to take the lead 14-7. Play of the drive was a crucial 3rd and 13 conversion which moved the team into the red zone (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698163 ). Could Parab00n turn this around? Rarely is Djibouti held to such few points in a serious game and the players were beginning to have flashbacks of their opening ladder match against SF. After a 3 and out from Djibouti the Wolfpack had a chance to put the nail in the coffin but after 5 plays the ball was back in the number 1 offenses hands. As the 3rd quarter began to wind down Djibouti drove the ball well and Too Much Power looked to have driven them inside the Wolfpacks 30 with a powerful run however Bruise "Speedster" CB (I hate you TT) clung on for dear life and stripped the ball lose giving the wolfpack posession for the start of the 4th quarter (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698211 ).

After quick drives for both teams Wolfpack managed to drive to Djibouti's 22 yard line and it looked like they were going to wrap up the upset in the first match of the tournament! However they couldn't get it done and ended up punting from the 25 yard line, an interesting decision given they were only up by 7. Another fumbled snap (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698260 ) stalled Djiboutis following drive however a 3 and out by the Wolfpack saw the ball back in their hands promptly.

O-Coord Stobie had just finished his stern talk with Too Much Power and let him in the game for another carry however the back coffed it up again! (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698278 ) Surely this was the game; with 5 minutes on the clock and good field position all the wolfpack had to do was run for 1 or 2 first downs. But no! After one good completion moving the chains the wolfpack threw 3 incompletes giving the ball back to Djibouti having only removed 1 minute from the clock!

QB Money Ball was rallying the troups on the sideline as he saw this unfolding and brought his team out with renewed vigour. He then completed 8 passes in a row (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698292 from here) moving them to the 5 yard line. It took 3 shots but they got the touchdown tieing the game with 30 seconds to spare. With such little time remaining the Wolfpack couldn't get within range.

After a critcal 3rd and 14 completion (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/19970/698346 ) Djibouti were methodical in overtime and I Kick Midgetz made no mistakes on his 23 yard attempt giving DD the win 17-14. An amazing game to start the tournament with and a lot to take away for both teams.

For DD they'll just be thanking their lucky stars they managed to get the W however there have to be question marks over Too Much Power's fumbling issues. For TT it's simply 4th quarter play calling that has to be addressed, even if they don't make that first down in four runs instead of 4 incomplete passes would've taken at least another minute off the clock or force DD to use their time outs. Both teams have a few days to rest with the wolfpack hoping to bounce back against SF on the 11th and Djibouti playing in two days time against the Seahawks.

That's all for now, a preview of the Alpine/Maine game on tomorrow will be up later.

We actually got a double header against Maine today. Ladder game coming up at 7am and then a 6 hour game planning break for the tourney game.

Drunk pre game ramblings (It's 11:50pm in aus so don't judge!)

Only one game today as Djibouti and TT got a bit excited and launched off early.

Alpine @ Maine Snails

Now these teams play each other twice today however we don't care about the shitty ladder game which means nothing; its all about the tourney match up in the early afternoon.

Will Alpines offense go with the running game success which has led them to a 5-0 start or take a more balanced approach to throw off Maine? Will one team throw the ladder game to gain an advantage in the important afternoon scrim?

The Snails are just simply one of the top teams in GLB2 right now however this could lead to complacency against the lowly seeded Alpine (9th). My prediction is a very close game with Alpine producing the upset, potentially in overtime, by sticking true to their run game which will control the clock and starve Maine of possession.

Should be a close game again, the ladder game finished 27-24. Alpine is 2-1 against Maine at the moment with one close win and one blowout win for each team.

Best of luck Maine!

Looks like Maine was able to have a lot more team members log in between the first game and the tourney game. They are the best team and the big 3250 SP bump should make them even bigger favorites.

OP updated with results from today; another cracking game!

We have three games tomorrow, assuming a quick scrim is going to be used for the Sunday Funday @ Iowa Rogues. Write up of todays game and previews of tomorrows to follow soon.
