I tried going with 45 Power Tackling on my coverage dots in order to KL or FF. That has not worked AT ALL. I've got bots with 100 combined tackling tech and power, hitting players with 20 or less carrying grip and 30 or less receiving grip, and not knocking a damn thing loose.

Part of the problem is so many of these "on the ground" catches, where the WR appears to dive to catch the ball and is touched on the ground. The irony of the QBs getting better is that it will mean more WRs will catch the ball standing up, which may well lead to more KLs and FFs.

I saw a bot catch one, like you mentioned, and as he got to his feet, he was hit hard and the ball was knocked loose. He must've had some good juggling skills.

I'm guessing Route Tech is hitting the route correctly; running to the right points, cutting at the right points, making the right angles when you cut. Quickness/footwork/sprinting (depending on the cut) helps you turn better and accelerate faster out of the cut. Coverage Tech is aiming your CB for the right spot on the coverage; similar to how Pursuit works for following ball carriers. I'll see DBs giving the wrong cushion after a cut, for example - probably poor coverage tech.

WR/CB interaction has always been complicated by the fact that the WR just has to turn, but the CB has to *notice* the turn, then react, then move with the WR, which requires being faster/quicker, and also having the awareness/technique skills to move in time. And then WRs have catching and CBs have deflecting and that seems to all work out. Except you have the QB gaining skill as well and all of a sudden you've got 2 dots getting better over 1 dot. That's why you don't want to leave guys 1 on 1 I guess. Hopefully things improve as more/better D plays get added, as you've kept mentioning there are some waiting in the wings.

It does help a bit that WRs now have 2 catching skills - hands and catch in traffic. I assumed that was in part to keep the skills more aligned.

I dunno I would say they are pretty opposite each other. I would guess they are very much like Quick Cut/Change Direction attributes instead of using SA's. The awareness skill is still a big part obviously. Either that or Quickness is more keeping speed on cuts while Technique makes cuts actually sharper.

Catch In Traffic is an overrated skill imo.

Much like GLB1 I am sure, power is less a factor into KL than impact. Hard to KL guys when everyone is pretty slow and your close in speed after the catch is pretty awful.

I figured it would be a two-way ability: stop the run with hard hits, stop the pass with hard hits.

It hasn't worked and I'm starting to consider a mass-respec or recruitment in the offseason already.

Build me some LBers, CBs, and Ss with balanced zone/man (though zone should be 10 points higher for the LBs, man should be 20 points higher for the CBs), decent (25+) physical skills, and 50+ coverage tech and deflecting skills.

If there is something I've always sucked at building, it is pass coverage dots and bots.

Power tackling is more for stopping the ball carrier in his tracks from my observations and hasn't helped me either with KL or FF. I made test builds for pass coverage trying to focus on KL's and it hasn't worked at all.

I think it's still an important skill for linebackers in the current metagame. The difference between 4th and inches and 1st and 10 have won me games this season.

How would being too slow cause my guys to continue running down the field while the WR turns around and runs in the other direction towards the ball?
