EL disparity was much larger in seasons past though... which I think this theory is heavily rooted in.

ELs need to be in the ball park of your opponent because this determines individual matchups. I would say 1,330 is the minimum you need in WL. This speaks to core positions like O-line and D-line. Having been on a WL team with a too-low EL, usually what that means is that your lines are not good enough, especially your O-line, and if you can't block you can't do anything on offense.

Beyond that though coordinating can do a lot. Effective levels tend to be higher with fewer SAs and higher supporting attributes. Sometimes these don't make as much of a difference as you would think. For example, 75 Stamina will raise EL, but may not make that much of a difference over 68. Ultimately, the best teams are the ones with players built to fill certain roles where the coordinators put them in that role. EL is a prerequisite, but this puts them over the top.

Seems like 8 playoff teams in the top 10 or 12 ELs, then the other 8 are scattered through the bottom 20 or so.

Then again, there's a few teams that are always high in EL and always make the playoffs and there's a few teams that make the playoffs every season no matter what their EL is.

I'm no statistician, so I can't sort through all the noise to make any sort of guess.

If you're recruiting and end up with low EL then you're screwed. If you're an already assembled with coordinated AEQ & VAs then you can overcome it.

I can build a 1550 SPV HB that can't get out of his own way. Dots that can put production to the dot field is all that matters.
