The best advice I can offer is learn from your defeats. What a lot of games, not only yours. See what works and what doesn't. And adjust weekly. Remember, what worked to get you a Silver championship may or may not work in Gold, and at the very least, it would need to be tweaked.
If you do this, you might stave off demotion and become that much better of a team next season.

It's more the builds i'm concerned with atm....i'm sure there is a guide somewhere but i'd rather experiment....gameplanning is gameplanning

I think you won S1 or something a few seasons back. With the way gold is looking this season I can almost guarantee you a playoff spot if you field a team, you guys are pretty good.
