im not really sure where you are coming from cav but i think you're wrong on the LB statement
I think X is special. Don't see many get off the line like that. In the one replay the DE didn't get out of his stance before X blew the play up. That's pretty special. I don't think his build is much diff then any others you'll find, but he's got it all together correctly.

He is called X for a reason
Strong x factor in that dot; when that gets matched with a sick build, shit happens.

I just think it's silly that the line lets the 1 lb with the shortest path to the QB as the guy that goes untouched and not the lolb who has the farthest
Could you please describe the blocking scheme that lets the LOLB go untouched but blocks the MLB (who really has the shortest path) and the ROLB? Whatever it is, the D will just put the right build in the right place to blow it up. Dots are just too superhuman fast when they hit that snap count and first step fires and they're built for speed. Adding more SP to builds just makes that problem worse.
Back in the really old days, the RDE would have been left open while the LT hit the ROLB. DEs were speed sacking all over the place untouched.
Put the LG on the ROLB and the C on the NT and you'll have two problems. One is that the NT has a REALLY good angle on the C there. A hyper-jump by the NT (instead of the hyper-jump by the ROLB that you're seeing in those plays) and the play will be over EVEN FASTER than it is now. I remember the NT-shoots-the-gap insta-sack days, too. Second is the MLB - either you leave him free, and the ROLB build gets put into the MLB slot for blitzing and again, FASTER, since he's a good 1.75 ft closer to the QB and the C has to push out wide to his left to hit the NT leaving a gaping hole. Or you try to slide the RG over, and either you play the racing game with the MLB vs the RG, or the LOLB becomes the speed blitzer. Maybe he's far enough away that the play develops? I think the MLB beats the RG often enough for the speed-sack, though, so you put your hyper-blitzer there.

The NT/DT can't jump to the QB like they used to from what I'm seeing. Even after the NT revcakes the center and guard he moves with a governor on him through the pocket. Nobody else has this. The LBs slip off a block and move faster, but the NT moves through a fucking moat even though he has a free path to the QB. I brought this up seasons ago and bort or catch said it doesnt happen, but if you watch the sim it does. I'd know because I've had 2 DTs that tried to get sacks with and even with 11 FS and higher speed you don't move faster to the QB after the NT revcakes everyone, or slips past the line. he moves half speed until he hits a certain point outside the pocket.
