As far as the respect that he gets, I think it comes from a combination of things. I don't believe that anyone thinks he builds the best dots, but he does build some really good ones. Even though he hasn't won a WL title, he has fielded a top 5 in the game team quite a few times.

I also may be missing something, but he has never came across to me as knowing it all. And while I have never personally asked for his advice or help, I do know that a lot of people have... and he is cooler about it than I would be (not that I'm a prick or anything).

So, I would probably say that success+humilty+charity+time= respect?

The truth is that taut is a very good dot builder, but not the best in the game. However, a complete team full of taut dots is still better than almost any other team in the game. But the reason he hasn't won any rings is two fold. The first is that he runs pretty simple, conservative offenses and defenses. It makes it difficult to beat him, but teams have found the way in playoffs when they put the time in. The second is a little bad luck. This is an RNG and anyone that thinks if we resimmed every playoff game from the past 10 seasons that taut doesn't come out with a ring somewhere is kidding themselves. In the end, taut relies on his great dots to make plays, but they just haven't when it mattered enough.
