If you watch it tick by tick, I believe the WR gets the ball before the SS makes a move back towards the LOS.

Edit - At full speed I agree it looks though the SS is moving to intercept the path of the WR. But in slow motion it seems the SS takes off towards the middle as the Catch is being made.

I agree that he looks like he is starting inside just before WR gets the ball, but he may be in the middle of the little circle motion defenders sometimes make when they get to the C of their zone. If you notice, he goes back to spot, then starts coming forward and outside, then starts moving inside in a circular pattern.

A few things:

-The SS follows the WR in movement step for step until the ball is thrown (working as Bort coded it, whether or not there is something wrong with that sadly belongs in the suggestions forum)

-The path to the ball carrier makes no sense at all, especially for a SS at the WL level- goes in a curve away from the carrier rather than a straight line. I believe this is buggy logic (although it may be impacted by spins- you see the weird movement happen simulataneously in the first replay- it's possible that the WR jukes in the other two....but can't tell since it doesn't show in the PBP. Nonetheless I feel that in deep zone, it makes much more sense for SS to be outside contain, and the SS shouldn't run to the inside so often.

Worthy of a bug although I could see why other moderators would disagree

Dear everybody who thinks the ss is covering somebody...

i ran that play specifically today because in your pass D when you tagged the rec TE, the SS back pedaled to his zone. I assume it was a zone immediately in the play design. I hate that screen play but your D was wide open to it. Auto adjust did the rest spamming the hell out of it. Probably only thing that saved you was that RPP otherwise we probably could have got 400 yards out of just that play.

Do this play 1 tick at a time...
As the play develops, the SS runs DIRECTLY at the WR. As soon as the WR catches the ball, the goes inside. Where is he going?

It's not just MY ss i've posted in these links... This isn't just my defense either. If it was ONLY due to the defense I was running, I wouldn't be worried about the fix. If it was ONLY my SS I would fix it. It's not.

For the record, the build is really fucking good.

Yeah it is a problem with the ss pathing when he comes back to the play. I am too lazy to look for links but it bit HOOD once or twice this season.

I do agree if he had more CD or something they probably would make the play. Not sure anything needs changed, maybe just your expectations from your SS. I just went ahead and built a different D to stop it, prob solved.

After 2 posts here is my take.

Could it be better? probably but the player probably isn't capable of doing what is being asked of it. I think more the D play needs changed then the pathing of the SS

what is funny is that the play you said the SS got absolutely right is the one where the HB missed his blocking vision check on the SS. >_>

try starting the SS closer to the line imo. He will hit that same zone, the LOLB will be taken by the HB and SS should have a clear shot at the WR.
