Most of the play-in games were between current or former WL teams.

Random seeding is so fail, who cares if shitty teams get screwed they have no business playing a bunch of cupcakes and making it to later rounds while good teams have to go through a gauntlet.

what's the difference?

edit4clarity: no one cares who finished in the top 16 or what have you. maybe top 4 but presumably shitty teams wouldn't make it that far even with random seeding.

except osaka is a top team, and didn't even get a chance to play because they had to play their way into the tournament by playing the defending champion

i get that osaka's good, but they'd have to beat you guys (or a comparable team) anyway at some point later in the tourney. do they care about beating some crappy team just to get to the final 16? /shrug. i guess they do lose out on some scrims that are labeled (T).

Its not the point... They didn't even get to participate in the tourney because they had to play the defending champs in a play in game. Two of the top 8 teams in the tourney playing each other to get a chance to play in the tournament. That is just messed up
