Sad thing is the DPC was getting good for me. It was exciting to create a defense and watch how it plays out be it good or bad. With pre sets its just a matter of batting a ball. Sometimes you'll hit the right defensive play and sometimes you won't . Creativity is exciting. Not following the same boring trends. Defense will become a stagnant in pee wees. Everyone using the same defensive plays.

This is the problem. Everyone's D will look the same. It's just like an offense, when a few good plays get big, everyone runs them. When a few D plays work well, everyone is going to use them. Oh well, leave it to GLB to finally come through on rentable CEQ, then fuck up basically the whole D.

oh, you mean you would want to try to debug an infinite number of defensive possibilities?

those guys are so lazy.

No, I think they should either:

A) Put in some logic that can easily identify who to block and then block them. You don't have to code for every possible defense, you just have to code some logic. And also, if the team overloads a blitz they can't pick it up IRL either, the QB has to make a quick read or get sacked. I think some sort of hot read aspect could solve some of this.

B) Still have DPC, but only allow you to begin with certain presnap formations. Then BORT COULD code all the scenarios. Have a FB block an LB...if his blitzing do this, if he's run away, do this, if he's standing there in zone, do this. This would take some time, but would be do-able.

C) Create an OPC that has aside from pass routes, also has OC's put in their own blocking schemes. Then it's their fault, not BORT's. Especially if you use the idea from B. You could assign your guys to block a certain man, or you could assign them to zone block a certain gap or area. You could have your play run differently based upon which presnap formation the defense is in.

Catch said there would be 200-300 plays and most would be user submissions, so that wouldn't be bad as I am sure there would be plenty of plays to stop RQB's in all formations. No I don't like it, but it would work if they get 200+ GOOD plays.

I can agree with this provided they list out exactly who in each play is covering whom. Otherwise, it's just a guessing game. Now, if the allowed you to test your plays without being a scrimmage or game, I can see being able to figure it out. If not, it'll be pretty tough to figure out what does and doesn't work. I would think it'll take a few "crap-shoot" seasons before anyone really knows what will work.

Let's also hope the don't let 1 or 2 guys create all of them, or they would have a pretty mighty advantage over everyone else (at least early on).

Catch said they would probably do mouse overs so you can pick a player and see their progressions. No way are you going to have to pick a defense and NOT know who is covering who.

Still not the same as making your own plays. That was the best part to this game for me.

This was my last season in pee wee but i think i might make it my last in GLB, i loved the DPC it was the reason why i did the defense, it was always fun to try new things out and see them work or fail! When they did work it was a moment and went they didnt it was a moment and the creativity was endless! the crime here is robbing us of our creativity!

I agree, but if done right, would still be effective and a good DAI would still be needed.

Still our players are so slow we do not need limitations

This is fine by me. It's going to take some of the fun away, but setting coverage assignments is the most important piece in my opinion. I can live with this one.

You think pump fake is bad now? Just wait until they limit what players can hep in coverage by their positioning limitations.

Also true, but I'll take this and give it a go. Had they kept it as he originally stated, I wouldn't have even stuck around to see. I only work with the Defense on my PNME team, but after doing that this season, I'm hooked. Kinda like a drug dealer getting you hooked, then telling you you're cut off even though you still have the money to buy.

True, but at least you'll still have the option to "TRY" to create a play to defense it.
