my feeling is that every offensive play in this game is more than stoppable...if an opponent can find a play or 2 that your defense is incapable of stopping, why not run it over and over again...like why should a team resort to calling plays that arent going to work, just to not "cheese" a win...thats what scouting is all about, and not just scouting the other team, but your team as well to make sure you are not going to be exploited

instead of complaining about it, fix your defense to stop it...every defense is going to have its holes...your job as DC is to keep the OC guessing about where they are going to be, so he can't do his exploit

Can't fault a team for doing what is necessary to win.

When this was first posted, I sort of thought the same thing about auto-adjust. I think most of the "old guard" from Gold are strong proponents of turning off auto-adjust (I recall when it was discussed, most of the gold teams said they did not use it). I think a lot of the newer teams DO use it, and that is resulting in some of these things. And, obviously, the older Gold guys aren't used to it.

A couple seasons ago, teams had to basically just slam or OT their way to a short 4th down conversion to move the chains. Now that PeeWee offenses are much more diverse, the auto-adjust becomes more viable...if you're willing to play that risk/reward game with it. Yeah, it'll really screw you some games...but in others, it just might repeatedly call the QB sneak (or otherwise) that you were only planning on running about 10% of the time, and that might help you squeeze out the win.

As a reminder, you can use auto-adjust on defense, too.

It works if you use it sparingly. I have it turned on in some of my packages, and it shows up from time to time in a good way. For example, when we played WAM, our rushing QB had a huge day -- throwing the ball. He was like 8-9 with a few TD's. There was one passing play for him (as a decoy type play) that had an easy throw. The intent was to prevent the D from tagging him or burning him if they do. They did, and the SIM kept calling the play. Good thing as the D brought 10 guys and each time the play came up (which was a lot thanks to auto-adjust), it went for a TD or a 50+ yard gain. You just have to be careful how and when you use it.

Let me give another angle on the subject...

Think the NFL would not use a play or set of plays that work most of the time and use them heavily?

At the end of the day, all that counts is your W-L record, not how you got the record.

And MGeezy2186 is correct in that any play is stoppable. The trick is setting up your defense to stop it without opening gaps for other plays. For example, if a team only uses inside runs 99% of the time, do you think I would still split a safety out wide to stop a play that will almost never be run?

I guess I just expected more from a guy who graced us all with his guide to Offense.

I remember in HS running the same play something like 7 times in a row...if the other team can't stop it, why stop running it.

LOL, that wasn't directed towards anyone in Gold...hehe

Plus if you look at my offensive plays over the course of the season, I have called quite a few different plays. A lot of it depends on what holes I see on a teams defense. If they have a very good defense with few holes, I probably will go more the conservative route and just pound that game with known working plays. But if I see holes, I try to exploit them with a mix of things. Plus I wanted to keep my offense against you more basic as that game meant far less to me than our week 16 match up.

Ya I won our game, but I did mention that I barely won it while out leveling you by 2-3 levels at most positions, which was a complement to you. But your comments to me after that win had an air of bitterness on your part. It seemed like you had to point out reasons for your loose so everyone knew them. Then you had to belittle my win by linking me to this thread and then saying you expected more from me. This all points to someone who doesn't loose very well. Ya you have one of the better teams in Gold and you are a good winner, but you need to work on being a better looser as your actions after your loss were very transparent.

I'm just messin with you man, I'm allowed to have some fun on here too every once in awhile. In my opinion I'm an excellent loser. The one loss we do have, I said GG and and went about my business. That game was straight up and on an equal playing field, what do I have to cry about? It's just a game after all. But yeah, I was a little sour only because we couldn't match up to your level 10's and yet still barely got beat. I can't do anything about that, and we were not going to boost for a Tournament game. We have our eye on the prize and that's all that matters. Yes, you won, I'm moving on and good luck the rest of that tourney.

I think I'm a better loser, but only because I tend to lose often.

Edit: Oh, and they only brought 10. It wasn't a complete jail break blitz.

See we didn't even blitz 11 players correctly
I guess our 1 non blitzer was on Spy, and we all know set a dot to spy he might go to 2 deep coverage.

Just call us Swiss Cheese

LOL Kaerey sent me a PM talking about it. He didn't know why the guy stayed back until he looked again. That was the perfect example of auto adjust and how it is meant to work.
