no idea, but it seems some of the Mods, Jed specifically, like the idea or some variation of it.

You are right in the fact that it would be pretty simple to implement, current XP system stays the same, the points just go in a pool before distribution to the players. And it still leaves in the necessary fact that lower levels gain more XP for plays on the field compared to higher levels, and removes any idea of a "bonus" for playing well or a "penalty" for playing well - as soon as those words arrive, people freak out about parity.

As far as changing the XP distribution, I would encourage everyone to go post in that thread, the more posts we have there, the more people supporting it, the higher the likelyhood of someone doing something about it.

We're cool, though. I will go and post on that link in support of this proposition. Different teams or not, this is something everyone should get behind.

I can be an a-hole sometimes too. Here's a neat trick I once learned: a-holes know they're a-holes, but d-bags don't know they're d-bags. I dislike the latter much more than the former.

A rivalry would constitute two very good teams going after it with the intent to win the championship with class and dignity. Only one team (Tonga) is trying to go about it this way. Say what you will of the comments passed back and forth but only one thing will resolve this matter. July 4th is when we will brighten the sky with a fireworks display for the ages.
