English, I don't know it well.

Just playing.

I figured it was a charge per transaction, plus a settup/route fee. I'm sure theres more fee's int here somewhere. And then what happens if a user rings up the price but doesn't pay the bill? I'm sure the phone companies go after the business to recoup some of the losses, right?

If a user doesn't pay the bill, it is on the user. The phone SMS charges goes against their personal account. So they would send it out to collection companies from there.

Ahh, I figured since it dealt with a third party transaction, that they might try to recoup some from the company that sold the goods.
Glad to see it doesnt' work that way.

Why are people so opposed to this?

SMS is becoming a popular way to pay for things, except in North America.

It is also helpful for kids who don't have a credit card (instead they rack up a big cell phone bill).

And several games like this use it, including www.powerplaymanager.com, a hockey sim game.

It gets way too complicated.

Obviously it can't be that complicated if it is a trusted method of payment in countries that aren't North American.

The "I don't understand it so I say no" mentality is a destructive one.

You guys shouldn't say no, it isn't as if this suggestion is detrimental to the game.
Although it does require a bit of time for bort (or company) to talk to the mobile phone companies, it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Infact, perhaps if he was smart enough he could ask other websites (like the one I posted) how they do it.

As of July 1st they had

Now I can say that we have made a lot of progress and you can now buy credits with SMS in: Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Ukraine. In Russia we have a large number of operators that have still not been implemented because we want to test them first.

We will continue implementing other countries too. Testers for these would also be welcome. The list of countries where we need your help goes like this: Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Romania and USA.

Why?
What reasons do you guys have for saying no?

It wouldn't be too hard to do.
Also, he'd charge more for SMS flex to cover the costs charged by the cell companies.

On the website I mentioned before they charge almost double to buy points with SMS, yet a ton of people still do it.

Personally I don't think that the younger people who play this game are capable of using such a feature in a responsible manner. sms may be good for the bottom line, but it is difficult for someone to act in a responsible manner when they aren't dealing with true cash.

I have no doubt that the HoF joke that was in this thread earlier would in fact become a reality.

Also, using sms takes this game in a direction that i doubt the agents at large want to see it going in.

Why? I'll tell you why.

Kids having cell phones is not unheard of today. EVEN if they only have the cell for the weekends that gives them the opportunity to stick their parents with flex purchases via cell phone bill.

EVEN limiting the amount, I know I would be POd if even a 10 dollar extra charge showed up.

Now, someone asked what is keeping kids from stealing the parents CC. That's just a tad different as the parents CC isn't in the kids hands but the cellphone is.

Not to mention, it sounds like a lot of staff has to go into this per country. Plus testing, plus higher fees, plus the risk of thousands of parents harassing support for bills their kids ran up...........just doesn't seem worth it.
