Well sure, those trophies mean something to the person who won them... But the trophies that are really worth something are the trophies that everyone else cares about.

I made a sandwich today. I could have given myself a trophy for that and it might have meant something to me. But if I came to you with that trophy, it would mean nothing.

That's how I look at those lower-level trophies. Congratulations, you beat up teams that are all too inferior to compete in the league we're in. I'm competing for an OPL trophy, just like everyone else in this league. Any decent team here can drop down and win an AAA or AA trophy with very little effort. How respectable is that? By definition, those leagues shouldn't be much of a challenge. How valuable is that trophy, really?

The Pro League trophy matters to me now, and I totally understand why a WPL team would feel that my 2 Pro League trophies are worthless. And if I ever go to the WPL and win there, THAT is the trophy I'll be staring at. Any Pro League trophies I earned would be worthless in comparison.

imo

I bet they'd shove their fists into your face.

True, but only because I'm 5'9, 150 lbs, only ever played football casually, and he's most likely well over 200lbs.

If I were a 250 lb NFL linebacker and went up to a National Champ NFL player and said, "Hey Vince Young, your National Championship don't mean shit here,"

He would probably say, "Yeah that's why I'm gon' win a Super Bowl."

He'd be lying, but at least he's got his priorities straight.

All I'm saying is, if you're anticipating winning a championship in a lesser league than you are currently in, that's not something to look forward to. That's looking backwards.

If you go back to AA, and win two titles in a row (AA and AAA) and get back to the Pro League, who is going to be like, "OMG Good job! You did it! Look at those trophies! Good work, fella!"

They're pretty much worthless once you're here.

Also, now that there's a World League, the OPL is going to get easier and easier to win, as all the best teams move up a level.

Tasmania Tigers are currently at the top of Zeta. But we wouldn't be up here if there were no World League. So Cal BDC still dominates us like their playthings.

We're still gunning for that OPL championship, but knowing that the teams we couldn't beat are now playing in a higher league, the World League definitely makes the OPL title a little less sweet.

First of all, with all due respect, I do think its something to look forward to. Yes, I understand what you're TRYING but FAILING to say here. That it's 'pathetic' that we would choose to gut and move back to 'make it easier' on ourselves. It's not about making anything easier, it's about getting back to the level we need to be, to compete at the level we SHOULD be, but aren't right now. So, yes, absolutely, if we move back to AA and win a couple championships on the way back up here, i'm going to be proud of my team. But I have NEVER been someone to brag about any accomplishment, as you've all seen on the forums. I'm not here to rub it in anyone's face if i do win any championships, so I don't care if anyone else cares, it's not about the 'fame'. It's about the accomplishments and success, the team work. Maybe it means nothing to you, and that's fine, but it does to me, and quite frankly, in regards to WSR, that's really all that matters at the end of the day.

P.S. way to hijack the thread.

thats reading too far into what im saying. im not saying its pathetic to drop down. i understand the frustration of not winning at the level youre at. i totally get that. i respect the idea of moving into a league where you can be more competitive and have more fun. what im trying to say is more literal than that.

all im saying is, when you DO come back, the trophies you earned won't be worth anything.

i respect moving back a league to have more fun or to regather your strength. i'm not saying youre doing the wrong thing. but if you want REAL glory and a trophy that means something, you should win at the level youre at. An AAA trophy will only ever be impressive to those teams that are currently in AAA or lower.

if you recall, my original post only read "Non-pro league trophies are worthless imo"

I'm really just talking about the trophies.

I know that because I'm posting a lot and I'm being extremely vocal, it appears that I'm trying to "troll" this thread. I'm not even trying to convince anyone of anything. All of what I have said is strictly my opinion, imo.

I'm really not. I'm just explaining my original post in this thread (and taking multiple pages to do so while simultaneously driving kingofgod up the wall. when he notices that all my posts have been edited at least once, he'll probably throw up all over his keyboard), and trying to express that I'll respect your team for dropping down to have more fun with this game and try to regather and build strength, I just won't respect the trophies you earn from doing that. Those trophies simply are worthless in my eyes.

So Jack, thanks for the shiny new players all gift wrapped under my tree.

Looking forward to playing you again when you get back to the Pros.

If they're dropping down with the same pro roster, I'd agree that would not be very impressive. That said, if they're rebuilding with a new roster, and competing with other rebuilt teams, its hardly blowing out their competition.

That said, I'm kinda confused by this post.

What exactly is the level you're at? Is there some fancy classification system that says "you're AAA quality"? Short of stupidly stacking the roster, I'd think beating the lottery that is playoffs at any level from AA to Pro would be impressive.

Especially with the promotion system where its possible to just be in playoffs and promote, I'm pretty sure some of those teams who promoted without actually making the championship game wouldn't mind a trophy or two.

Frankly, all I see is big dick waving from some guy in pro who claims "Non-pro league trophies are worthless imo".

Nope, that's not what I'm saying. My bad. I should have said "The league you're in," rather than "the level you're at." No classification system. Basically, if you're in a Pro League, the only trophy that matters is the Pro League trophy. Likewise, if you're in AAA, your AA trophy doesn't mean anything.

If you made it to Pro without winning any titles, I definitely applaud the desire to go back and get here the RIGHT way.

True. But I think it has less to do with what I said, and more to do with how much I said it.
