I expect several of these squads will eventually end up in same conference again and rivalries shall be reborn.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that you're taking a train straight to the WEPL. We knew someone would accept the offer, can't be mad about that.

I do however think it is ridiculous your team is going to be rewarded for throwing a game. I wanted the best competition we could get and, provided we win our next game, the only way we're going to know that we are facing the best in Zeta is if your game is decided fairly.

Is there no way around this? Can Bort not move you to the Pros and the Features to AAA no matter the outcome? That would be best for everyone.

That's actually a question I just asked in our forum. If we don't absolutely HAVE to throw the game to move to Pro, I'd rather not do it. That said, I was and am probably one of the most vocal supporters of us moving up to Pro, so I can't act like I'm upset if we throw the game. I sure as hell would have said no to throwing a game to Cleavage Central High School AKA Adriana Lima Beans though...........

Quote... from me, post 1 paragraph 1 of this thread...

About a week ago, we were approached by a team in Europe West Pro asking if we wanted to move up. After discussing it with the team, we decided that it would be best for everyone if we did so and so we agreed and sent our request to the Admins to be processed at the end of the season.

The one catch is that we have to be in Europe West AA at the end of the season or the deal is off.

Now that we are fast approaching the division game, where the winner goes to the superbowl and advances to AAA (no matter the outcome), we are in the position of having to lose the division championship game. It sits poorly with all of us on the Trolls, but we have zero choice. On the good side, the Features are a hell of a team and I would think a straight up game could go either way - so they are definitely a worthy team to represent Zeta. The other bonus here is that the Features are probably better matched in AAA or pro as well, and this guarantees that 2 teams from Zeta move up - which will make zeta more balanced in the long run.

Wally, were not being rewarded for losing a game and nobody on the Trolls likes the idea, but here are our choices:
Play to win and if we beat the Features, we move up to AAA. If you look at the AAA teams, theyre a little better than AA but not much. If we lose, we stay in AA. I like the people in AA but I think its time that we move on.
The other option, the one that we already agreed to and sent the requests in to the admins about (so this is all academic), is to not advance to AAA and move directly to pro where we feel that we can be competative. A team that is comparable to many of the teams in AA is moving into our spot here. It works out best for everyone. Seriously, wouldnt you like whatever league youre in to have all the teams somewhat close in levels so that gameplanning, individual tactics and play calls make the difference? Isnt that more fun?

I read the original post(although not before I posted in our forum). I was just wondering/making sure that that actually meant we had to LOSE, because technically, we'd still be in AA at the end of the season. But clearly as the coach/owner, you would have been the one talking about it with the higher ups, so you'd know better than I would. Honestly, I shouldn't have even questioned it. I trust your judgment in all matters related to the team Crunch. Hope you don;t think I was calling you out in the open forum or going behind your back or anything. You know I'm a Troll for life.

That doesn't answer my question. Why? Surely it isn't difficult just to swap a couple of teams around. You're getting moved anyway.

I´m pretty disapponted right now. I was really looking forward to a rematch. Even though the trolls might be the best team, i thought we had a possibility to get revenge.

Anyway... Good luck, I think the Trolls will do just fine in the pro league.

Rogal, dont be silly man. No worries.

Wally, Im running out of different ways to explain this. If we win against the Features we move up to AAA while someone at the bottom of AAA is being automatically moved down here. They want to trade with a team in AA.

understood and agreed with...

In honesty, instead of taking 5 seasons to sort out the power balance in the leagues, they need to really do some major adjustments. If you look at Pro / AAA / AA teams from our division, Green, Manchester, Features, Beans and Trolls really should move up. there are way more than 5 teams up there that would be more competative with many of the AA teams.

Just as an example, an 8-8 team from AAA
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=301
has average levels of 14-16 which is comparable to AA

11-5 team
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=292
average levels 15-17

16-0 team
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=291
levels 15-17

Our top teams as good as their 16-0 team.

I agree with you Capn. Beilefeld and Antwarp came from AA last year, and are kicking ass in AAA this season. SO, no doubt that AA teams can compete in the upper levels. As for the move to Pro, the decision was put up to Greenwood players like it should be, and we decided to stay and move up (when applicable) to AAA like normal. I for one know that we (Greenwood) and about 8 other teams in WE AA #1 would fair just fine in the pro league. The level of competition is wide spread throughout Western Europe, and like one person said, the best teams throughout ALL divisions will be playing eachother in a couple of seasons in PRO league anyway (rivalries renewed). Let the game work itself out.

We just wanted to see if the best of Alpha (us or Mob) could beat the best of Zeta (Features or Trolls)...that's all. Now it's tainted a little, but again, don't blame you for the move. Good luck in Pro...hopefully we see you soon.

The driving force for me was this: Like in the scenario in Alpha, Mob and Greenwood plays. Both those teams have the talent for AAA at least but only one will be moving. Whoever loses will have at least another season of being in the "wrong" division - and thats assuming that they win next season, which is never guaranteed.

the hard part is that there are lots of well run teams that are excellent at their level. The problem is that a team full of 12's is going to find it very hard going against a team full of 16's. Its also very hard for the 12's to gain any ground on the 16's so, while they may close the gap a little, they will always be behind the curve (my big concern with going to pro as we will be slightly lower than most teams) unless they bring in a ton of new players - and then its not the same team anymore. At the Trolls, its a very big deal to bring in a new player and I assume that many squads run the same way.

Also, we knew that the offer was out to many worthy teams and knew that if we waited until the division playoff game was over, we would probably lose our chance.

Well, as you know I've changed my tune...on behalf of Greenwood, we wish you luck up there, and will be rooting for you.

Im really happy for the Trolls making this move.. I know this might not fit well with the morality of the whole game, but i would seriously dread having to play another year in AA (No disrespekt, great people through and through), but there are so many low lvl teams down here now, which means less fun for the good teams doing our gameplanning and stuff, and people will whine when our overpowered players take the titles which should go to players with lvls fit for the league lvl.

It is like being USC: wupping 7 bad teams and playing 3 meaningful games a season.

I don't like this move to be tainted, but I respect the Trolls decision. As the owner of what I believe is a very good team of players around level 14 I do wish we could play in a comparable division. We were 5-11 this year, but we only really played one close game--Dublin.

After you guys would move up to AAA, Bort could switch you with the Features to bring you back down here, then switch you and the Maulers. Everything works out the same.
