this agent never contacted me and went straight to the league forum to air his grievances. Rather than pm while I had time to retract the trade, he enaged in a public fight where he defamed me, my team, and all of the players.

I believe he has displayed himself to be an unprofessional player and VIOLATED SEVERAL CLEAR GUIDELINES OF THE FORUM as set forth by BORT. Had he conducted himself in a professional manner, I would have taken steps to resolve the matter, WHEN YOU TITLE a forum post jbarney is the biggest douchie bag, it its hard not to respond. Other Owners please be advised before hiring someone or you will get burned like I have with guys like this.

Stop with your whining you screwed the guy and then his actions were stupid as well. and both of you are dumbass's for bringing this to a public forum I wouldn't want to deal with either of you as you both have shown how childish you both are.

i have to disagree
i had a player become disgruntled because he wasnt getting playing time 4 or 5 seasons ago and he was become very hostle with his pms
he had 2 players on my team so i cut both of them
he responded with im a shitty owner and that i dont know what i was doing or how to run a team
although i told him to seek out a trade partner he decided to continue to get me to trade or release one of the other fbs so he could get more pt

and as for trading with out a heads up
who honestly thinks every athlete that has been traded has gotten a heads up about it before hand

I agree I don't trade players without them knowing and agreeing to the team they would be going to. This is just common courtesy but even with the situation that has happened here there was no need to go into a public forum like the OP did. Both guys are wrong and both should just get over it and go on and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

If players don't want to be traded, then they should sign only NO TRADE CONTRACTS. If an owner gives a heads up everytime a trade offer comes in, the agent would likely break up all of the trades. Trades are between OWNERS. Althought it is nice to give a heads up, it is not required. The best interest of the team always takes precedence over the interests of one agent or one GM, that is how AMERICAN FOOTBALL is played. Remember FOOTBALL is a team, not individual sport. Guys that get traded must realize that TEAMS that are willing to PAY CASH will likely play or start the guy. Wouldn't cutting a guy be worse than a trade to a team willing to play and pay??? Am I loosing something, IN THE REAL WORLD what would a REAL player want to be CUT or to be TRADED. I think they would want to be traded, even if only for a season.

I didn't sign a no-trade clause...why? Because you would think you could trust an owner if you are one of his GM's (my mistake)

I had not posted this guy on any forum to even have this guy signed....why? Was going to retire him and bank the points. The only reason I signed with this team was because I was basically begged to by jbarney in a PM he sent to me just a week earlier.

I signed for pretty much the minimum...why? Because I was doing like probably every agent for an owner he is trying to be loyal to does...give the owner a break, so he can build his stadium (mind you, never asked for a nickel in equipment, and knew he was hard up to get his stadium built).

This is roughly the moral equivalent of giving your buddy $100 to pay his rent, only to find his car outside a strip bar after work. Can he do what he did...absolutely. And I've had guys traded more times than I could ever count. And did I post this here first...no. I posted it on the team forum, mainly to let guys on his team know who they are dealing with. If he is proud of it, then leave it up...hell, boast about it. In short, as I said before, and I will say again; if a guy is willing to dick over one of his own team's GM's, without so much as a courtesy PM as notice, how can any guy on that team trust a word he says?

Jbarney...I think it is professional courtesy to let players decide whether or not they should be traded to a specific team. You could have done the right thing and talked it over with him. "Hey, I got a trade offer for your player, we need X, are you ok with it?" Something along those lines. Blind-siding players like that is just wrong.

And the fact you state, do what is the best interest of the team, is true...however, you SHOULD handle yourself with a little professionalism. I don't think you did in this case.

I agree with stryker on this completely any owner worth his salt would have done what was right and that would have been to PM the guy and tell him what was up. that was pretty shitty

I see it as a courtesy, not a requirement, that you inform an agent if you're trading his player. I would always inform them and most likely allow them to find their own trade or at least have a say in where they go. In this case, it sounds as though the owner had the player's best interests in mind, whether he informed him or not. On the other side, posting a thread like this automatically defines you as a total douche bag.
