I think our bad start is what has hurt us. Against both ABD and Semerang Red Bulls, we had fairly basic offensive and defensive AIs. Then against Manus Thunder, I didn't gameplan at all.

Our two other losses shouldn't have hurt us. OFG is just a solid team that was 2 points away from playing MEM for the USAPL championship last season instead of the Gamblers. We lost a close and very tough game to DeSWK.

I think if we keep playing well and if we can get some revenge against Manus in the Coca Cola tourney, that should help.

The odd thing about RPI is that it doesn't particularly care which teams in your schedule that you beat - if you play 2 really good teams and 2 really bad teams, and you go 2-2, you're going to get the same rating whether you beat the two good teams and lost to the two bad teams, or beat the two bad teams and lost to the two good teams. I think when people go to rank teams, a good win can often make up for a bad loss, and RPI doesn't account for that.
For what it's worth, I'm certainly not going to take any questions about the RPI personally, it's not even my formula, I just stole it from the NCAA

As far as your scrims, I'm only including scrims that are part of Hazy's Elite, Pro World Tournament, Pro Traveling Trophy challenges, Tournament of Champions, and most recently added League Challenges such as APL vs SEAPL. It's just too hard to know which scrims are serious otherwise. So the only two scrims I'm counting are vs the Red Bulls and the win over the Bangkok Lightning, bringing your pro play record to 11-3 and leaves your SOS rank at a paltry 213th. The good news is, come playoff time, good playoff teams will have a chance to significantly improve their SOS with extra games against other good record teams.

I just looked at your league schedule - you've still got the White Rhinos, the Spider Monkeez, and the Shadow Chasers left to play. No wonder your SOS is so bad for now; that's three of the top records in the conference left; most teams don't have 3 solid games left to play. Win out and I would expect to see you in the top 50 for sure.

An APL update on the RPI, as of the APL playoffs round one (which means missing SAPL and OPL):

In the top 100:

9 LOL
19 Sierra Leone
22 Sea Wolves
23 Djibouti
36 Shadow Chasers
55 White Rhinos
64 LGoT
67 Angola Dream
70 Spider Monkeez
76 Warrior Kings
84 Royal Knights
85 Somalia Pirates
95 Warthogs
100 Ghana Buffalos

That's 14 in the top 100 and 4 in the top 25. Pretty good!

APL did well in the APL vs SEAPL challenge, and also the Sea Wolves got a nice win in the Coke tournament, which has also been added, but only Pro vs Pro matchups). Oddly enough they got to the finals with only one game vs another Pro Team, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got a rematch vs Manus when it's all said and done. Although honestly I don't think the Coke tournament will finish.

Yeah, thanks for the update. I've really enjoyed having different rankings other than just the Top 25.

After the playoffs, look for an end of season 9 computer ranking via the Colley Matrix method (used in the BCS). I'm only going to put out that one for end of season this year - next season I may work on putting them out weekly or so.
I'll put it up in the main forum, and then if I remember put a link to that thread in here.
