there's a reason why no SEC team plays North Texas... because they don't like competition in their out of conference games...
DUH!

Actually my Crimson Tide has NT scheduled this year. But, the out of conference I'm really worried about is Chattanooga! ROFL!!!

North Texas? Competition? hahaha
The SEC doesn't play big time OOC teams for a couple of reasons. Primarily, because there's more money to be made every season scheduling local teams. This helps the SEC team out by providing an extra home game, and it helps the visiting team out with a nice fat check they otherwise wouldn't have earned. Second, more than a few times, A team would travel to play an OOC team only to have the team back out from playing at the Visiting school the following season and have to wait 4 years to make the schedule work. When you are in a conference that is split and plays a conference championship you are limited on playing dates. This is why the Pac-10, Big-10, and Notre Dame are able to load up with big time opponents from multiple conferences.

I think you missed the sarcasm.

not to mention if it's anything like Texas, there's actually a state law requiring the public universitys to play a certain number of Texas schools... that's why Texas will always schedule teams like UTEP, or SFA etc etc... scrub colleges that theyg et to blow out for 70+ points
and ya... about ALL north texas has going for them is their jerseys... and we have are tied for most overtimes in a game (think it was 7 or 8) and what was sad is only 9 points total were scored in all those over times....

I was being sarcastic as well. I went to a school that was competitive in I-AA, that moved up to IA, and is consistently a door mat. Northeast Louisiana University, now known as University of Louisiana-Monroe. Sorry for all of the commas.
I thought I would throw out some reasons why most big time programs play regional teams, because you often hear the negative aspects about elite programs playing lower competition. It's a necessary evil in many cases to keep the smaller programs afloat.

Uhhh your alma-mater totally embarrassed us a couple of years ago.
I will never forget that one...
Oh well I'll cheer up when Trent Richardson starts busting some heads from NT.
I've totally played with them before on NCAA just because their jerseys are so sweet

not to mention it would be nice if Coach Dodge started doing something... but the first few years is getting control of the locker room and getting his recruits in

I think within the next 5 years you will see a big increase in the quality of play with lower level teams. More and more athletes are being exposed to specialty camps, it's just a matter of time before the supply of elite athletes overtakes the availability of scholarships from the BCS elite teams. Players want to play, and they will end up going where they have the opportunity to get the most playing time. That might be in Tuscaloosa, Miami, Baton Rouge, or Branson, Missouri.

I went to the first New Orleans Bowl between Colorado State (my alma mater) and North Texas. We had a hell of a time with the North Texas girls on Bourbon Street, Some of the coolest fans in football.

Colorado State is the same way. But it is built into the student fees. It's a great way to do it. We had to go to the ticket office the week before the game, show our ID and get a ticket. The student tickets used to get eaten up in two days since the only had 10,000 available for 24,000 students.

Thats how it was at NLU. I got on the wait list at LSU for season tickets, but they nickel and dime you to death. It's easier to get tiger vision or watch it at home. I'm 35 and getting a little old for the tail gate scene. Well, let me rephrase that. It's hard to pick up 20 year old chicks when you are 35 and not driving a Bentley, so the tail gating scene is not my game. lmao.
To give a coach a fair shake, you need to give him at least 6 years as long as the team is progressing. It's hard to overcome a toxic attitude most teams have after losing for a couple of seasons and then getting a new coach.
