Run run as fast as you can....BORING
I was actually surprised at how not boring the game was. It is not like either team was surprised by the game plan of the other.
The ultimate irony is that the "OPRO Islam Bowl" was won with a 55-yard PASS at the end of the first half. Without that play, WSI wins 23-21 instead of losing 24-23.
I couldnt disagree more... there were several situational differences that we chose (or would have chosen) to do differently that were the deciding factors. Its the only reason we were able to overcome 2 turnovers.

In spite of us both feeling compelled to go Islam all damn game, I thought it was one of the more entertaining games of the season. (I just pray to God that next season provides us all more opportunities to get creative.)
For sure, game planning needs to become fun again.
My one hope is that this repeat play penalty doesn't inhibit teams from taking advantage of the huge holes in their opponent's defense. I understand the purpose of the penalty, I just disagree with the method of achieving the result. There have been way too many band-aid fixes the past couple of seasons rather than slight tweaks and buffs to achieve better balance. Hopefully the test server can be used for actual testing now and we won't see these wild swings in terms of what works and what doesn't.

If I'm reading you right, I think you missed the point. I wasn't considering gameplanning, defenses, etc. - I just meant that it was very ironic that, in a game with 100+ runs, the biggest play (outside of the missed FG) was a pass.
If you meant that the game would've looked differently because of situational differences, we can't delve into unknowns. Obviously the plays would've been different had the scores been different, and obviously different plays may have brought different results (then again, given Season 8's, umm, "tendencies", perhaps not). But we can only go on what actually happened.
In any event, it was an observation of a statistical oddity, and not a comment on BPN or its win.

From comments here and elsewhere I got the impression that you felt this game was all up to chance, considering we both islam'ed it, and was essentially decided by a "coin flip". If this is not what you were insinuating then I apologize.

Grats Nites. You won more coin flips and RNG rolls than WSI! I can't wait until actual gameplanning comes back into play!

I watched the entire thing, and even with all the running, it was quite the captivating game.
Congratulations Banzai, from one of the newcomers!
And what a streak falls tonight!

Great job for both teams to illustrate how completely fucked the sim is. This year's title winners in all leagues should have a trophy that says "Slammiest."

I do, but it didn't have anything to do with what I said up there.
I've been saying it for two weeks now. I said it when we won, and I said it when we lost. It's not an insult or a downgrade of your victory.
Any time you have a play that can't be stopped with regularity through any strategic methods by teams of relatively equal strength, and both teams run that same play consistently, you've created a coin flip situation because there is very little the two teams can do to separate themselves. It's not like WSI did anything in our AI to cause those fumbles; they just happened. And obviously BPN didn't do anything to make us miss that FG with 9 seconds to go. It is what it is; it doesn't take any shine from your trophy.
