Thanks. Good luck to you guys in APL. Sounds like you guys have the toughest few teams and we have the deepest conference.

Bobby, I'm going to say you guys beat us last year. jdawg and I were ready to kill our OC most of the season because it seemed like he refused to run the ball like we thought we should.

I'm not making excuses for this season. I wish you guys hadn't already gone CPU. I would have loved to have scrimmaged you and put you in your place. You basically ran maybe 2 pass plays. I will admit that I messed up one thing in the D AI that helped you with your two long running plays. That's my fault. At the same time, I wasn't going to show anyone that I knew how to shut down the slant passing attack. I had hoped someone would rely on it during the playoffs so I could catch them off guard.

If you don't understand what I mean by slant spamming, I almost exclusively ran plays like this one:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=309877&pbp_id=9851217

At that time, slants were almost impossible for a CB to stop. If you want to say I'm just complaining, look at this game:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=357295

OFG is a top team in USA PRO. The Windsor Cheetahs spammed that play all game long. It's like the WR screen was at the beginning of last season. You pretty much have to ignore all others plays and set your AI to defend it, if you hope to stop it. Or at least, that's how it was until the playoffs. For some reason, it seemed like it wasn't as hard to defend in the playoffs. Maybe that's because we gave our CBs a good dose of agility and vision. Either way, you couldn't win without heavily relying on those plays. I scouted you guys and new that. I told jdawg about it, but I planned on using my AI. I wanted 16-0, but if you guys beat us, that meant that just maybe I could show the conference a "weakness" they could exploit in the playoffs. That way, once we got to the playoffs, I could surprise teams by shutting down what they thought was our weakness.

If you think I'm kidding, you have no clue just how devious I can be when it comes to smokescreens. I was really hoping ESM didn't pull it out in the regular season, but I was prepared to go 14-2 if I had to in order to maintain the smokescreen that we couldn't stop the slant pass. Luckily, either no one noticed or had more integrity than to use the slant pass only(yeah Hulk, I'm talking about you and Sahara for sure).

I'm going to stop now, but let's just say this, this season's win was pretty much a win from me. You don't know how badly I've wanted to tell you from the moment we lost. However, I refused to reveal my hand to the rest of AAA. jdawg wanted me to say something right before the playoffs when you made the comment about wanting to play us and I told you that you didn't want to. I told him I wasn't going to because I hoped we could play you so I could shut you up with the sim. I didn't want you or any of the other teams knowing I could stop that pass. I really wanted to play you in the playoffs to I could shut you down when you thought you would use the same gameplan and continue to use the slant pass as about the only pass play you used.

If you don't believe me, you can ask jdawg. Now, I won't downplay the job you did on defense, but offensively, I can't really give you that much credit. Not for this year. If it had simply been a play that exploited what we did defensively, I could give you some credit. However, that play was working unless you played it exactly perfect and even then, it still got through. Two teams Hulk and pthlatemagic are on spent an entire scrimmage trying to find ways to stop that play consistently. One of those teams is OFG. So, if a top USA Pro team spent an entire scrimmage trying to figure out how to stop it, then you know there's something to it.

Wait, I will give you credit offensively for one thing. You caught me off guard with the whole put the WR at TE swap. I didn't expect that.

Isn't that more of a post than a slant?

I'm not getting into this. I just wanted to ask. I am not aware of us spamming anything. But I'm sure you scouted us a lot harder than I scouted us. Once again, congrats on the trophy. I was just comparing the one-loss seasons in my original post. I didn't mean to start anything.

Actually, I "exploited" that play because as I was scouting you guys, I noticed that you guys played a cover 1 and overloaded the strong side of the field a lot in the I formation. You guys left the middle of the field, and the weak side wide open to that formation. Don't get mad at me because your defense was so predictable. I was just doing what anybody with common sense would have done.....taking advantage of an obvious weakness.

I didn't just pick a play and say lets run with it. I watched all of you guy's games up to that point and put in plays that I thought would work against what you were running. Hell, the deep post wasn't even the play that I put in to take advantage of what you guys were running. It was the TE Quick Hit out of the I formation. I put a WR in the TE2 slot and had him set to favorite WR. For some reason, the sim favored another WR and only passed to the one that I wanted favored something like 4 times. We don't use the autoadjust, so that wasn't the problem either. You go back and rewatch the game, and you will notice that our WR 30.06 is playing TE on some plays. I wish we hadn't of went CPU yet because I could have gone back and posted our gameplan for that game here for you to see. PsydePhuk could even confirm what I am saying.

Futhermore, the probability of us running the same scheme against you a second time (if we had of played a scrimmage) would have been slim to none. My gameplans switched from game to game. You would have gameplanned to stop that, and I would have burned you with something else. Of course you would have had some other excuse as to why you lost because that is your nature.

You will get to see me again next season anyway because I am a GM on two teams in APL. The Africa AAA2 champs the Botswana Brownie Eaters (assistant OC, Offensive scout), and the Tuscaloosa Bulls(OC). So either conference you guys happen to land in, I will be there to once again put you in check and listen to another round of excuses as why you lost. You'd much rather be in the Lion conference though because while you may have a chance against the Bulls, you have absolutely no shot against the Brownie Eaters.

I was joking with you back during the playoffs about us beating you, and I didn't think that you would take it so seriously. To be honest, I'm not much of a smack talker, but guys like you tend to bring out the worst in me. It is fine to toss a little playful banter around, but I refuse to let myself get in to a penis swinging contest over the internet with some guy that I don't even know. So I'm done with this thread, I'm done with this conversation, and I'm done with this topic........period. We can finish this conversation when we play each other next season in APL.

Yeah, you used it only against us, that's why I noticed you ran those plays in every game after a certain point and you those were about the only passing plays you used. You also liked to pass long since that was broken with the WRs have no vision check thing that Bort has finally decided to fix this offseason.

As for your teams putting us in our place, we might lose to the Bulls and Brownie Eaters and I won't make excuses. I've always had a lot of respect for the Bulls, which is more than I can say for the Beavers. I agree that it's time to move on.

I am saying this with complete honesty - I really love the last page or two fo this thread - this is really what GLB is about - good teams taking a chance and winning a game. I had to go back and watch a bunch of the games mentioned, which I would rarely do if it didn't impact any of the teams I work with, but I did and I am pretty sure that both these teams really did lay it on the line and put in a chancy gameplan, had one team or the other not done that they would of lost. Great job guys and congrats to both!
