You're right, new players should start with 0. Why the hell not.

Intense training costs 5 training points. In order to have exactly 5, you must first have 1, then 3. You get 1 by having 6 (when one must first have 0, then 2, then 4) and using intense training. Then you have zero, and the cycle starts again.

In order to upgrade advanced equipment, you must have 8 bonus tokens. Before you can have 8, you must first have 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then 6, then 7, and then 8.

I'm really straining to find out what's bad about having some training points or bonus tokens lying about.

It wouldn't kill me, but since 7>0 I'm happy.

When you get 7 to start if you are doing intense the following happens.

7-5=2 add daily points for 2 days
6-5=1 add daily points for 2 days
5-5=0 points will always vary with intense training I do not know what you are talking about. Every other time you train you will switch between even and odd numbers. Basic math.

We do NOT need extra training points for a new player creation. That would just lead to MORE whining about not starting out with enough cash, or more threads about how d-leagues need to give out signing bonuses.

Point about bonus tokens is to save them up to either:
Upgrade advanced equipment or,
Bonus boost

It's a never ending cycle for bonus tokens. Same with training. There is never just "extra" training points, unless you're going to wake up one day and decide to never train your player again.

I am completely lost as to how that matters.

My impression is that it was initially put in place so people could try 1 intense and 1 normal

Why does this guy just quote things with no response?

unless new ways of spending bonus tokens comes into effect, it seems that no matter what choice you make, you are always going to have an odd number of bonus tokens or an odd number of training points, which is quite useless, as you need a minimum of 2 training points to use at once or a minimum of 4 bonus tokens to use at once.

I was typing when you posted so I didn't see it before I pushed post.

I think I just figured it out. You ready?

The OP doesn't know that he can switch training back and forth from normal to intense. You see, if he trains on intense with his initial 7 training points, he gets 1 bonus token and has 2 training points left over. Then he trains on normal, and can never switch back to intense so he can't actually get anymore bonus tokens for the life of his player, leaving him with the 1 that he got the day he created his player.

or

He never trains on intense, thus never uses an odd number of training points and always has the odd one left over from the day he created his player.

^^^this was the original explanation given when the new training was introduced a couple seasons ago.

Its the weirdest thing...I created a new player and used six of my seven training points right away. And of course, I was stuck with an extra training point. I was stymied and confused - paralysed even for an entire day due to being overwhelmed by this.

And then...next day, I had three training points. What's up with that?
