Please don't poach?

I don't see how giving the players of a dying team the option to remain in the same league is a disservice. If my team were falling apart, I'd at least appreciate the offers.

Yeah, Cook Island was about half a day from the same decision last season before I happened to pick up some OC help from a gutting G-Town.

The game continues to get more and more complex, and that requires a lot of scouting and gameplanning. On top of that, Bort continues to butt-**** teams over with SIM changes. He doesn't properly test things out, doesn't have a review group of veteran players and owners to test things. He runs a few test SIM that only he monitors and just rolls them in, then acts surprised when he's completely screwed people over. He tests SIM changes on current builds, not theoretical lvl 60 season 10 players, so he has no clue what they'll do in a season or two.

I'm 100% confident he had absolutely no idea what the combination of all the offseason nerfs he was planning to put in for the DL and running game would do combined with giving veteran points out. Vet points pretty much resulted in all the players at our level gaining 10-14 speed or agility at most defensive positions. Power backs all got about 9points stronger, etc. Then he acts completely surprised by how much faster defense got, how much better the passing game got, etc. The only guys who really suffered were elusive backs who suddenly saw their speed/agility advantage in getting through the holes go away.

I'm actually enjoying this season more than some previous seasons, and I'm all for realistic numbers, but you can't just change the SIM and completely nerf builds that have been effective for 6 seasons. Good players and teams become average or bad overnight. Recruiting is hard enough, and on top of that it's pretty much a given at least 1-2 of your starters every season will become worthless without a complete equipment redo.

I'll use Tonga's DE's as an example. They amassed over 200 sacks as a group in season 5. Last season Bort started to nerf DE's and they came back to Earth but were still dominant. This season the lack of a pass rush is the biggest reason Tonga has lost some if it's shine. They had a bunch of guys built very well for what used to work, and Bort just kicked them in the nuts.

I have a feeling 2-3 years from now GLB may be a very fun game. I'm trying to stick it out to season 10, but one more major screw-job by Bort and I'm probably done. We went from a run-first team and everyone knew it for 5 seasons to a passing team this year he nerfed our elusive backs so badly. My backs never had a lot of points invested in SA's. Just high speed and agility to hit the hole and make the cut. Oops. We're down 2ypc this season and if I complain I'm told it's our builds? That was a response I rec'd from support. Funny, our builds were great for 6 seasons.

I agree with you Dpell, I also get what you are saying Patrick.

MTD is not quitting or dying though, just reforming.

The latest trend in GLB is to have a group of teams you're associated with that has a private forum you all hang out in. Then when one of the owners decides to sell you try to coral all your best players to the other teams in your group.

Scace has long has associations with the Heat and a few other teams, I'm sure they're trying really hard to nudge all his best players to the Heat and other teams.

That said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with sending a PM. I own a team as well as having a player on Tonga and I've received at least 40 PM's about my CB. I imagine the guys on the team who don't own teams are getting absolutely flooded with messages.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I've long known the Tonga guys and a few of their players are headed my way. There are also Tonga players headed to several other OPL teams including the Crushers. It never hurts to drop someone a line.

I think what he meant was that he didn't want the guys to get spammed by a ton of teams when they had already committed.

Yep this is pretty much why all the teams have been quitting. When every season you have to scramble and adjust to what works it is extremely frustrating because when you start to fail just because of having to adjust to changes you tend to blame the sim which is frustrating because you can't do anything about it except complain in the suggestions forum where everyone tells you to just quit whining. Wel I don't know if that sentence made any sense, but I hope I got my point across

Sorry - to clarify, many (most) of the MTD players are already committed to join the Heat. Others have committed to join teams in a group of "family" teams owned by agents who have been on this team for any of our 5 seasons.

So yes, that is what I meant -- I don't want guys that have committed to get spammed with offers. As you can see, most guys have longish term contracts, and most expiring are going to be accepting longer term contracts and will be traded in the offseason to where they'd like to go (or released and signed).

I feel cheated. Original post wasn't nearly as gay as advertised. Needs more rainbows and a disco soundtrack.

+1

It's been a tough season for Barossa. We missed playoffs by one game last season and loaded up with FAs to make a run this year. Several of our GMs had players on a CPL Pro team that we folded into Barossa, allowing us to upgrade several starting positions and seriously upgrade our depth. We had high hopes. I mean, we only needed 1 or 2 more wins to get to the post season.

Fast forward to week 16 and we will be watching from our couches again. We seriously got hosed by the changes, and a few players have already announced that they want to seek opportunities with other teams.

Looks like another rebuilding year. It's a darn good thing that recruiting is so easy!
