and don't believe there's a way to alter the spreadsheet to remove the cross-conference games.

You just don't enter the scores, and they won't be included in the averages.

you must not of ever ran a league projection before have you?

Groucho did it the entire last season. Have you ever done it?

I toyed with the league projector one season but stopped. We all know that game planning, build quality and levels decide most games. How strong each team is in each of those aspects cannot be properly implemented in the league projector thus why I abandoned toying with it.

Yeah, but when I took out the cross-conference games, the projections were WAY off

That's because we've only played two same-conference games.

Those things all manifest themselves in the score, so the league projector does in fact end up being influenced by all of them. What the projector can't account for is big changes in a particular team mid-season. Gutting, for instance. Since all it has are the prior results of that team, the projections are going to be way off.

He actually did it for 3 seasons. And I've run it for another league for just as long, and Groucho is correct.

Holiday In Cambodia vs. Skaro Daleks
Projection: Holiday 92 - Skaro 25

I think it's time to throw the projector away.

Skaro 55, HIC 27.

Nope. As you know, we didn't setup our AI for the first came and were blown out. So now everyone thinks we suck (combined with the fact that we're out leveled by just about every team in the league) and the projector will obviously project us to be worse than we are.

It's fine by me. I'd rather be the underdog every game, anyway.

Anyone can plug in numbers print the results, but it takes a certain education and background to fully understand what's going on there. Trust me, you're wrong.

You're more than welcome to register for my course on process modeling and simulation, or my course on latent variable modeling if your GRE scores are high enough.

"Projection: Beijing 11 - Flipmode 67
Actual: Beijing 44 - Flipmode 27"

It does feel great, of course, to defeat a team which has you out-leveled and had been undefeated. It is also frustrating for Beijing. We have a knack for defeating the top teams but not being consistent until the second half of the season. This has been our pattern in S4 and in S5. Hopefully Beijing will begin to put our win streak together now instead of waiting till the season is half over. Flipmode is a great team and we are fortunate to have escaped with the victory. Good game.

No offense, but what's the point of these projections if they aren't close to accurate until midway through the season?

The Taiwan Dragons were suppose to get the crap beaten out of them by Singapore (according to these projections) despite the fact that we outlevel and outbuild them (no offense to Singapore) and then we beat them by 28?

Is there perhaps something wrong with the projections?

It's just fun to see the "spread" and to try and beat it.
