What do you all think about the importance of speed and agility for Gs and Cs? My gut says that they're probably important to a certain degree but not as important as they are for outside linemen. I've been focusing on the second caps on strength and blocking first but would love to hear feedback.

I've been wondering this myself. I've been training speed/agility for my guard lately as I work on capping block, and I have no idea how much I should concentrate on it once I 48 blocking.

Some of the tape I've watched has my G attempting to pull out as a lead blocker so I think speed might be important for him but I haven't seen my C do anything other then hit the nearest man and stick to him.

Kind of my point it is hard to take o-line advice from someone who links a game where the team gives up 21 sacks and loses by 88. I will admit though that was the first game of the season, therefore, his players may have been 28 and boosted at 29 to 32 after the game while the opponents may have been 32 at that point. I am not sure what the levels were for the game but come on 88-0 and 21 sacks. Hard to take your advice seriously.

Is it? I don't know...if he said my OT is a beast, build like him maybe I'd agree...but he came on here and said look at this disaster of a game and learn from my mistakes. I see nothing wrong with that.

That looks like a good build to me.

Only if over 48 is ideal. If 44 is ideal than 4 points have been wasted.

About 60 - 70 should be ideal. Don't worry about the first soft cap.

Question 1: Would you rather have agility 44, 48, or 32873284732847324723749234?

Yeah, I'd take the last one too.

So, clearly, the "ideal" agility is "as much as possible".

Now that we've gotten that silly idea of "ideal" out of the way, look at opportunity costs.

That guy has 26 sacks in what, 10 games? 2-3 / game. I'd venture its probably 5 / game against the gutted teams, and 1 / game against normal good OTs, which is fine really.

His build shows why it is clear OTs should have over 50 agility, in my opinion. And that 80 str/blk is stupid.

OK so Agility over 50, but what about Speed? Where does that factor in. I've got an LOT with Blocking 78, Strength 62, Agility 48, but speed of only 27. I also have an 8 in protect. Now, I've been pumping agility all year, but I'm still getting torched by speed rushers.

So what's the next step? Get Blokcing up to say 90? Get Agility up to say 60? Or is it my speed that's killing me. It's not like I can't make contact with the DE's, it's that they get off my blocks too fast.

For the record, that guy is a LDE. I guess running away from him all game might work.
