Well, I was thinking about this more and more and there are good points for and against a GLB draft.

However, I have a simple solution to the problem. It has been widely agreed to that a draft in some form or fashion that a 'draft' would help GLB.

This is now, at least I think, an understood statement.

The biggest proponents against a draft say that the main reason they are against it is that they wouldn't want to be forced to play for an owner they didn't know, or to split up a group of friends.

Here's my proposed solution to this issue.

1. When a player is created, they have the option of selecting whether or not they would like for their player to be entered into the draft.

2. Upon completion of a player selecting to be 'draft eligible' they are immediately offered contracts from a 'D-League' team.

3. Upon completion of a player selecting to be 'non-draft eligible' they are immediately requested to place an advertisement in the free agency pool.

A 'non-draft eligible' player is not eligible to be drafted as well as they are not eligible to be placed on a 'D-League' team.

A 'draft eligible' player is placed on the 'D-League' team of their choice. They must remain in the 'D-Leagues' until they reach level 8, the current cap for the 'D-Leagues.'

At the end of each off season each 'D-League' player that has reached level 8 or higher during the regular season is at that point eligible for the player draft.

All 'A' teams and lower are then capable of selecting a player from the 'draft pool.' The number of 'picks' per team is determined by the number of players that will be entering the draft. 'AA' teams and higher are not eligible for the draft in order to help foster improvement for the lower rated teams. Thus, negating the idea of the 'rich get richer.'

Essentially, this meets both parties in the middle. Those who don't want to be drafted and want to choose their team have the ability. Those that don't mind being drafted and like the idea can create a player that can be drafted. Most new users would probably select to be drafted and it should be recommended that for their first player they do make themselves 'draft eligible' to learn the game and such before going to a human-controlled team. After the first player, they may do as they wish.

This idea would almost turn the 'D-Leagues' into the collegiate level and the rest would be considered NFL level.

I really think that this would be a good setup to create a draft for GLB while also appeasing the masses on their choices.

I like this so much I am going to put it up in the Suggestions Forum...

Well, never mind to all that. Put it in the suggestions forum and had about four of us going back and forth on it and we actually revised it and made it a very favorable thing. The idea was almost stellar I'd say (little different from above) and mod walked in and posted "Never Gonna Happen" and posted a link to the thread that I posted above and locked the thread.

It appears a draft truly will never happen no matter how perfect you make the idea.

unless the mod was Bort, don't give up hope. Bort has a little interest in the draft from what I can tell.

The change to what was mentioned above was that we had worked out that the d-leagues would be split and half with half of them becoming draft eligible and half of them becoming non-draft eligible.

Thus, making it easier for level 1's that couldn't find a human team right away to continue building their character.

Thus providing options for the player and not forcing them to be drafted if they didn't want to be.

Making everyone happy.
