If any team has bandwaggon fans in the NBA it's the Celtics. And that's not just my Boston hate talking. Okay, maybe it is, but still. The team has been horrible for how long? Then they get two all stars, and all of the sudden there's Celtic fever in Boston again. They fall under your "only real fans would be 50 yrs old" category much more than Laker fans. Lakers have always been good .

Having grown up outside of Boston and now being in my early 30's I was around for the end of the Boston dynasty. I can assure you that even through the rough years that followed the REAL Big 3 retiring the fans were no less passionate about their team. Unfortunately we have always been far too loyal to our ex-players and gasve them positions they were not qualified to handle(read: Danny Ainge).

Still noone can argue that Boston is the most fabled of NBA franchises followed very closely by LA then in the distance I guess you have to discuss Detroit and Chicago. I may not be 50 but I am a lifelong Boston fan and know my NBA history very well.

What I was referring to are people OUTSIDE of Laker fanbase geography...like say, my buddy here in Indiana is a rabid Lakers fan, but his favorite player is Magic, so he's good in my book...he liked em from the old school and continues now...I'm talking about people who don't know who Magic Johnson, etc etc etc of the old Lakers, that made them beastly, are who are suddenly fans now that they see Kobe Bryant being jacked off by every dumbassed announce crew by saying he's the next Michael Jordan - even since his rookie year. That pissed me off more than anything...Jordan's one of a kind, just like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing...the list goes on and on, but he's the only one being compared to...New Yorkers would burn the city to the ground if some Center got drafted as an 18 year old and someone kept saying "IT'S THE NEXT EWING!!!"

They'd get pissed and torch this country hahaha

That's what I was talking about...people in CA are good, they have a reason to be fans at a young age just because they live around there, and it's hammered into their heads all the time. People from the east coast liking the Lakers because of Bryant are the bandwagon jumpers I speak of...

I was wondering if fans from Minnesota could be Lakers fans? wink,wink,nudge,nudge........someone take the bait and run with it. I lived in So.Ca. during the entire decade of the 90's. When the Lakers missed the playoffs 2 years in a row they went from sellouts to about 14,000 a game. So bandwagoneers are everywhere and are growing in numbers in this "you ain't s8it unless you win mentality.

I saw more out-of-towners (meaning not from LA or Boston) jumping on the Celtics bandwaggon this past year. People love to hate the Lakers .

But don't blame Kobe for the Jordan comparisons. He even said himself don't compare him to Jordan. I think why people hate him so much is they see Jordan as a God, and Kobe was really the first player after Jordan's retirement who was on another tier similar to MJ. People don't like to see MJ comparisons because in their mind, he will always be the best. I respect that, but that's why I think most people hate Kobe in my eyes.

Anyways, Kobe is like a God in LA.

At least until he runs and plays in Europe.
