Last Thursday someone told me about Knob Creek. He said it was very smooth, and worth the money. I like doing shots with a chaser, so it sounds like something I'd like.

Right now, I drink Kessler. If it's better than that for the money, I'll switch.

I hope you aren't planning on taking shots of Knob Creek.

Its too nice for that. Something you sip on and enjoy. If youre taking shots of something just take shots of Jim Beam.

And then you can't taste anything lol. Should be the other way around, start with the good stuff when you can taste and finish the crap when it doesn't matter anyway.

Also, I find Knob Creek isn't as smooth as some other bourbons. It's 100-proof and it has a really nice warmth factor. That's why I like it. I find the 'smoother' bourbons generally don't have as complex a flavor. Knob Creek definitely has a variety of notes. It's mostly what I drink at the moment.

I had about 8 ounces last night at a friend's BBQ and got fucked up. lol I also ate practically nothing all day, so that's probably the bigger reason. That, and I was drinking more than sipping. I should have had Evan Williams and Coke instead. It just wasn't as relaxed of a hangout like I thought it would be.

Ewww, Evan Williams is horribad. If I was going cheap, I'd go with Seagrams Seven, or Old Crow.

Yea Evan Williams is complete shit. We had a family bourbon tasting at our last reunion and everyone agreed that my aunt's homemade bourbon (she used one those small barrels) that was not aged enough, was better than Evan Williams.

I'm not that into bourbon, but from what I know about Evan Williams, this guy nailed it:

in other words, for a $10-15 bottle of booze, it's okay.

That's how most feel and it's how I feel. I can get it for $10. Splash some coke in it and I find it's prettyy good. The flavors really compliment each other with the coke. The cinnamon, tang, vanilla, and char all work well together. I enjoy the tang and I really don't seem to get that in most other bourbons. I find Knob Creek is the closest. It's not a sipper, but they do make a single barrel and it's not bad - especially for the price. It really just tastes like a dialed down version of their black label that is smoother so it can be sipped.

Price is the main point. I don't think there's any other bourbon in that price range that I find enjoyable. And, since I use my own stash, I like to focus on one bottle, so I don't have to keep replenishing various bottles of liquor.

All Homers.

For the same price, you can get TJ Samuels, or Old Crow. Both are better than Evan Williams by far.

I put booze into two categories: needs a mixer, and rocks worthy. by and large, your $10-15 need a mixer boozes are very similar, and you only get real separation in tasted in the rocks worthy category.
