I've had a former patient with a big Mike Tyson style tattoo on his face who was a really nice guy. Totally schizophrenic and psychotic as a baseline but very worried about making sure other people are OK. He was admitted once because he thought his neighbor was being attacked so he broke through the wall between their apartments yelling stuff about killing people.

So.. I know the flu shot is an inactivated virus and no one can get sick from it... but why do people feel shitty so often after getting one? I work with sick people all day and I still don't want one because I know I've felt like shit the last 5 times I've gotten one

i think sometimes people do get sick from it.
my wife got one last year and was sick for the next several days.

Yeah I hate that coincidental 'something was in your system' argument. I've gotten 'sick' or at least felt like horrid ass every time I've gotten the shot, and I've only gotten the flu one time in all the years I haven't gotten the shot

I might be completely wrong in this, but if you think about what the symptoms of flu, etc, are, it is not the virus itself which causes symptoms, it's the body's response to an invader. So eve though the flu shot is a deactivated virus, the body might still see it as an invader and act accordingly.

i think seths is correct. i believe i've seen/heard/read that before about the flu shot
