I just finished reviewing the final drive of the Kava Sharks/Nits Game and I'd like to point out that the game was decided by faulty AI. I'm doing this because most people will point out a loss in a heartbeat but wins by faulty AI usually go unannounced.

Here's the drive:

1:04 1st & 10 OPP 11 Mack Slaughter rush up the middle (1 yd gain) [tackle: Manumana "Manu" Tuiasosopo]
1:02 2nd & 9 OPP 10 Mack Slaughter rush up the middle (2 yd gain) [tackle: Joe Redneck]
1:00 3rd & 6.5 OPP 7.5 Mack Slaughter rush to the left (3 yd gain) [tackle: Bobo Ballcrucher]
0:47 4th & 4 OPP 5 Lyle Norton pass to Agila Aguayo up the right side, PAT made by Aram Vahanian [TD] (5 yd gain)

Looking back through the AI to find out A. why the hell did it look like we were running down the clock while trailing by 3 and B. why we passed on going to OT with a chip-shot FG, here's what happened -

1st - 3rd down, despite being WELL within FG range, the AI was running a "get within FG range" play. Default AI for 4th qtr I imagine. I think Scace pointed this out earlier in the season, maybe it was Hammer, but something is terribly wrong with the "Near FG range (10 yards)" condition. We just kept trying to get within FG range even though we were already there.

4th Down - The AI bypassed on a FG and went with the 2-minute drill. Could be my fault, could be default AI settings for 4th, either way it'll be corrected and I suggest anyone that else who has trusted the default 4th settings do a doudle check to make sure it's how you want them.

So yeah...we, in all reality, should have gone to OT. I'm not gonna say we would have lost or won in that situation and I'm certainly not going to take away from my guys and their win but it was ultimately on a risky play that was a result of the AI. I know I'd be pissed if we missed that final pass.

Oh, it was me. It ran "get within FG range" from the 20 or so against you guys with us ahead by 6, instead of run the clock down. Interception, defense full of holes, TD, over.

Unreal. I thought running the ball there was some strategic part of your AI. I completely missed the fact that the game winning TD was scored on a 4th down play.

I would be willing to bet that, had the game gone to OT, the team with the ball first would have got the W.

I just thought it was a ballsy AI tactic

Either way good game. Thats why the ball is oblong, sometimes it bounces your way and sometimes it doesnt. You guys still whooped our defense so it was a deserved win either way.

Congrats again. Im loving this league more and more. It was staring to get boring the last year. Now I never know what to expect waiting for the sim to finish!

If we can convince all the teams we have now not to gut, there are some quality teams looking to come up and this could be one hell of a league next season.

The new promotion system should ensure that we have a relatively stable and competitive league.

Yep . . . I want competition and familiarity.

We've got a good bunch of owners, GM's and agents here. I don't want to lose-a-one-of-ya.

Except yoohoo. He can go play in the Hell league.
