Kinda interesting but Gliwice is rated 17th in Stobie's power rankings but 6th overall in GLB's rankings.

Stobie's power ranker should use Net Yard Differential rather than rank O Total Yards and D Total Yards, though by having both he's close.

Gliwice is only +300 Net Yards so that's probably why the lower Stobie ranking.

I've pitched to Stobie before to use average yards per carry...and a combination of yards per pass attempt - and pass completion % allowed to get a more accurate idea of who the "best defenses" are.

I know he's super swamped though with stuff

I should see if I still have a copy, it may have been in there already, but had minimal weight.

Regardless, unless he changed how the formulas behind the rankings work, Net Yardage Differential penalizes teams that go up against other tough teams while rewarding those that dominate CPUs.

I was actually working on some formulas when I was doing the rankings that introduced dynamic formulas that ranked based on the team played, their D/O ranks, etc... but I lost interest after Stobie took over and they never made it here

Yeah CPU blowouts skew the results, but the top teams don't play many CPU.

In baseball, W-L % is so strongly correlated with net runs differential, you can estimate a teams win exactly.

Got a few interesting matchups this week and one doozy of a game of the week.

#1 Panty Obliterating Rectal Ninjas vs. #4 The Salty Runback

Game of the week and potentially game of the year for rookie. Salty's D has been pretty damn good all season with exception to the BEEF game and their offense has been very consistent all season which is impressive given that it is rookie. PORN on the other hand has IMO the best offense in rookie (yardage wise they're second to virgins but virgins have had a decent amount of cupcake games while it has been pretty relentless competition for PORN all season) and at this point probably the best defense in rookie too (2nd fewest points allowed, No Name is 1st and PORN has the most forced turnovers in rookie). That's going to be a hard combo to beat. While this may be a very close game given how good salty is I just don't see PORN losing unless Salty finds some holes in PORNS gameplan that nobody has yet or if PORN drops a good amount of untimely balls (which is possible given that we're rookies). PORN wins 30-14

#2 Bloody Slaughterhouse vs. #10 No Name

If it wasn't for the previously mentioned game then this would be the next game of the week. The high octane Bloody takes on an underrated No Name. Bloody is similar to PORN offensively and has a good defense to boot while No Name has had a few ups and downs but has done well most of the season. No Name has also given PORN their toughest game to date only losing by 9 with it being a neck and neck game going into the 4th. I might regret making this pick but I'll take No Name to win this one with them learning from the PORN game and applying it to Bloody in a close game. No Name 21-17

#3 Ashland Dockers vs. #15 ENMU Greyhounds

ENMU is coming off the big upset against the Virgins last week and now they run into the new #3 dockers. Completely different team they're playing this time given how good Ashland can be at passing and Ashland having a better defense than the Virgins so far. Can't pick ENMU to have two back to back big upsets like that. Bhall finds the ENMU holes and wins 20-7

#5 I've STILL Never Had Sex vs. #18 Deadman Odyssey

Deadman is also coming off a big win after beating No Name in league play while the virgins are looking a little shaky lately. No secret run teams are easier to contain than pass teams in rookie but I don't think Deadman has the horses to do it. Virgins 17-6

#6 Gliwice Lions vs. #11 Atlanta Falcons

Gliwice is a pretty surprising #6 team to me given some of their losses and their tie but I suppose they've played a strong schedule so they're being rewarded for that. They play a good Atlanta team just on the outside of the top 10. Atlanta's passing offense is very good and I think will give Gliwice some trouble. If they play their cards right they can limit Gliwice in the run game. Atlanta 24-14

#7 Omaha BEEF vs. #22 NW Storms

Complete mismatch here. Don't think NW can handle
Bhall and the BEEF running game. BEEF 37-3

#8 Mannheim Steamroller vs. #21 FBU Fire

This might be a mismatch from a quick glance but I'm not so sure about that. Mannheim has really struggled lately and I'm not sure I'm too confident in their offense and FBU isn't that bad even if they're outside of the top 20. That being said I want to give Mannheim a little benefit of the doubt in being in the top 10 for a decent amount of time so at least for now I think they'll win. Though if they lose this game I'll probably pick against them against them no matter who they pull next ladder week. Mannheim 17-10

#9 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. #14 San Diego Sperm Whales

Arizona State seems to be doing well lately and should potentially try to move up the rankings and get to where they once were earlier in the season. Sperm Whales are coming off a butt whooping by PORN but still shows some promise even in the loss. This will be a close game I think but I'll say that Kayoh "forgets" to gameplan against and Sperm pull off the minor upset. Sperm Whales 16-7.

fwiw I went in and tweaked my defensive playbooks after the Gliwice & Simpsons games. That Gliwice game still pisses me off. Pure running team and we come out defending the pass with ZEB spam...ugh.
