Win a championship on his own merit, not on the heels of of a great coach(LE).

There are not many great Gold coaches, and I am NOT one.

You're right, they were unboosted, but they still had CE, not sure about the tree, but either way, I don't think some of you guys realize how much of an advantage CE is. They won the game by 7, I had more yardage than they did, but gave up a ST touchdown. I think if some of these teams in Gold were to try to do what I did this season, (non-boost/non-ce against boosting/ce teams), they would get destroyed. In all my loses this season I still had more yardage than the opposing teams, but Special Teams is the most difficult thing to overcome, since there really isn't much you can do in the way of game-planning.

Maybe not quiet obvious, , but I'd put my team in the top 2/3 easily. Of course, I might be slightly biased.

So LE is a "great" coach, even though he didn't win it all himself either? Not saying LE isn't great, he is, just that your logic is a little flawed.

I think he's proven he is a great coach. He's just a poor sport. I can see being a sore loser if Chicago had an "unfair" advantage. However, Gerr was playing well within the rules of the game and had a completely "fair" advantage. Ed can pout all he wants and put whatever *'s next to his losses that he wants. It doesn't change the fact that he was beat fair and square.

Dead Ed is as good as anyone on here. 95 games without a loss in regular season games going back to season 11. That stat alone is amazing.

another thought on a no boost/custom league.. and who would be favored.... The best passing team, offense/defense would have the best chance to win that league... Level 10 dots only have an effective level of 11ish.. so the passing boost would still be strong and the difference between a L13 CB and L10 CB is HUGE - along with the passing boost losing a little steam from effective level 11 to 14.

As for the SAS/Goats game... i agree on the special teams TD.. Special teams sucks in Pee Wee and even though I like winning, I'd rather not win a game where a cheesy kickoff return helps. But we did tone down the offense for that game only throwing 16 times - I think we would have moved the ball much better if we would have dropped back and thrown the ball... and that's no disrespect to SAS's defense - passing is just too easy right now. And the speed boost our WRs have from the CE is another reason why I think we would have racked up more yardage...

I don't think the CE makes a big difference once you hit Level 8 though... in the passing game a little more, but on the Dline and Oline it's very minimal. My test team a few seasons ago had 4 Dlineman that capped vision first - and the entire Dline had no CE, and they played Goats and Tombstone tough as hell in our late season test scrimmages.

why is everyone in PWG so emo?

ffs.

ps, DeadEd, I'm pretty sure PPM would have a pretty good shot to beat you in a no-no league. I mean, we did it last season...

(this is a simple joke, btw. please don't rage, cause that's not my intent)

i don't think i'm going to be around, honestly.

i originally got into PeeWee cause of the community, but now its what is driving me away.

and, for the record, i do understand and acknowledge that I associate with someone who has contributed to a lot of it. that was certainly an unintended consequence on my part.

Don't give up on us yet. With constant attempts to get Bort to reduce the cost of Pee-Wee after many failed attempts of our own, people are just on edge this season. Plus a large number of key Gold owners left Gold recently and the resulting void is a little chaotic at the moment.

On the up side, I see a number of well respected Silver coaches who are poised to come to Gold next season, so that should help.

I disagree on the comment about CEQ not making a big difference on the Line. I think that +6 strength makes a huge difference when it's the equivalent of 24 skill points thrown into your line (the different of a 68 strength and 74 strength lineman). I say this based on past seasons because I never required CEQ on my teams because I felt it was a waste of someone's money (not waste of points, just not financially sensible to demand from my agents). It definitely cost us a trophy or two along the way in some very close tourney and playoff matches down the stretch of the season.

I am tired of people knocking other coaches talent levels in this league. The difference between the top flight PW Gold coaches and everyone else is minimal these days. It takes half a season at best for someone with DC experience to realize what you need to do to be successful at this level or put forth a solid team. The hardest part about PW Gold is getting there... staying there isn't rocket science. I've gone a season without touching the AI once and a season without boosting or adding CEQ to my entire team and am still in Gold. One season we went 13-3, the other we just missed the playoffs and finished 9th place. So outside of the few owners who have actually won gold in pee-wee gold, everyone else is on the same level in my eyes.
