Interesting thing is the huge incentive against S*s now. Need for depth even with a S* means that there will be less roster slots available and S*s will be on the field less. I suspect many will forgoe them altogether in favor of depth and high contracts, which were also buffed.

Before, a S* was considered a significant upgrade over 2 non S*. This was reflected by the S* salary being 2.5x the regular player salary. Now that conditioning and energy are nerfed so heavily necessitating a backup, 1 S* is worse than 2 regular despite being more expensive. A S* is no longer worth the salary. You could have a S* and a regular backup, but it would be significantly more cost effective to go with 2 Regular players on high contracts. Maybe only on positions with multiple on the field at the same time like WR, linemen, and LB would it now be worth it to carry a S*, but even so it will be difficult to fit them in with limited roster space since a S* no longer effectively replaces 2 players.

I think it will be good for the game because more teams will now have S*s instead of the top 3/4 teams in a tier having them all. We went from being a good team meant 3/4/5 S*s to the extremes of 7-11 S*s to be a good team. This should spread the wealth some and allow more teams to have S*s, which will likely keep more teams active.

I'm not sure this is true. Watching some vet games today the superstars were still dominating the games and we thought we may have to make some use of the returner hb to spell barber but it it almost never gets to the point he has to be spelled outside of a handfull of snaps.

I was thinking the same thing. This will spread out the S*s.

You may be right, based on what I've seen certain positions are more affected than others.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/341225/21271

All 11 S*'s are on defense here. We see the safeties clearly the most winded, despite playing the LEAST amount of snaps than the other positions( since they trade off in ZEB), despite having the best conditioning. They also both have silver closing speed, supposedly boosting conditioning. The linemen are in terrific shape despite playing the most snaps. The corners are doing pretty good as well. The blitzing LBers are a bit winded but more conditioning could help them. The blockers are at least in great shape, plenty of depth and 60+ conditioning.

Thankfully my defense was designed to have 80+ conditioning on every position so we will see if the secondary improves their energy when they get more. Might have to take the safeties to 90+ conditioning. The offense will almost certainly need a non-S* HB to take over returning and 10 or so carries a game, which might get hard to fit in.

For the Lakers team, I can just throw in another S* HB in place of the QB. Undecided if the benefit of having 2 HB's and a 100 leadership QB to maintain energy would outweigh the loss of offensive versatility. The extra salary space could also let me have a backup C/G/OT...

yea the catching mechanics of wide open WRs is no different than when they are covered, and it should be a much easier roll to land.
