Alpha Division Preview
Phoenix Retirees
Projected finish: #1
Last seasons record: 11-3, made playoffs
Overview:
- Phoenix has reloaded, and taken a step further this offseason. Returning the most prolific passer from last year, along with his favorite targets, promises fireworks on the offensive end. Meanwhile a S* laden defense looks on the surface to be the best in the league. Look for them in the championship game.
Offense:
Key returners: QB Hare Razor (Returning OMVP), WR Chip Munk (#3 receiver last year)
Promising newcomers: HB Charlie Chaplin (elusive back), HB Ser Roland of Brittany (Speed/receiving back)
Strengths: Passing, Offensive Line
Weaknesses: Inside Running, TE Depth
Defense:
Key returners: 4 S*: SS Randall Hogue, DE Flashbang Flanders, DT Demarcus Saunders, DT Del Mabry
Promising newcomers: No new players
Strengths: D-Line, Star Power
Weaknesses: SS Depth
Cincinnati Dinosaurs
Projected finish: #2
Last seasons record: 12-1-1, lost in finals
Overview:
- Cincinnati is clearly hurt by the departures from last season. They've lost stars on every side of the ball. That should prevent a repeat of the impressive run from last season, but they should compete for the wild card.
Offense:
Key returners: QB Darth Vader, HB Salamander Dreadnought
Promising newcomers: QB Bobby Light
Strengths: QB play
Weaknesses: Chemistry, RB depth
Defense:
Key returners: DE Ben Derhover, CB Test Interceptor(2x best CB), LB Brad Van Pelt (S16 DMVP), LB Bill Romanowksi, (S17 Butkus Winner)
Promising newcomers: DE Tom Donowitz (Champion last year)
Strengths: Pass Rushing, Secondary
Weaknesses: LB Depth, Run defense
Hartford Walkers
Projected finish: #4
Last seasons record: 0-14
Overview:
- The dismal Walker squad from S17 has seen few improvements. Although they look tougher than last year's team, that will mean little when multiple teams have seen great improvements due to the changes. The challenge for them this season will be to win a game.
Offense:
Key returners: None
Promising newcomers: QB Viet Trieu, HB Mundie "Buttered" Biscuits
Strengths: Low expectations
Weaknesses: Pretty much everything
Defense:
Key returners: None
Promising newcomers: FS Seb Free
Strengths: Low expectations, Chemistry
Weaknesses: Everything else
Leeds Chartered Accountants
Projected finish: #3
Last seasons record: 3-11
Overview:
- The team that won only one game against someone not Hartford returns with some improvements. They won't compete yet with the big dogs in the Senior League, but should beat Hartford up a couple times and potentially spoil a wild card contender's season. They have a QB to build around in Stretch Armstrong.
Offense:
Key returners: TE Bus Depot, ST BONUS: K Too Dark Washington
Promising newcomers: QB Stretch Armstrong (Former Whoville Whos QB), HB Mike Alstott (Senior League Old Timer, S1 Vet)
Strengths: New QB is a star, should bring immediate improvement
Weaknesses: CPU WRs, OTs, Gs
Defense:
Key returners: CB John Hamilton,
Promising newcomers: CB Syed Hooker (<33% rec rate against WRs last season)
Strengths: Secondary
Weaknesses: # of human players, D-Line
