The average wide receiver is over 6'0". Now if we were talking about the general population of the United States, then sure, 6'0" would not be considered "short." In the NFL, it is, just as 6'4" would be considered short in the NBA.

Actually, no. Height can often be a hindrance for positions that require quick changes of direction, as the higher center of gravity makes it more difficult to sustain speed and balance. If you ask me what kind of receiver I want to run a fade route from the opponent's 10 yard line, then sure, I'd want someone 6'4"+. But wide receivers have more responsibilities than just that, which is why being short can actually be an advantage in other roles.
