If I want to keep my thread on topic, keep the discussions rolling, and make my disapproval for posts that repeat a topic that has been shut down MANY times, public. I do think I'm allowed to do so.

Take myself too seriously? No, I'm just quite annoyed with people wanting a full blown reset of their VAs because they didn't "read" or "understand" or "have the patience" to really figure out what those VAs implied. Now, they want those points back.

Sorry, I don't think that's a legitimate reason for a reset.

I hear you, and I am not a fan of resets overall and I particularly don't need/want one. But I just felt that since the initial reset was so short, and it came around the holiday time, Bort may want to offer another short second chance reset.

I had seen so many requests for resets, I believed one thread to keep all the requests for them filtered would be worth it. Particularly to keep those discussions out of helpful threads such as this one. Didn't mean to derail - just trying to help the overall scheme of things.

Edit: And in defense of wanting a reset (to play devils advocate) I can understand how reading the descriptions can be confusing and misleading, and how that would cause people to want a reset. In comparison if a user puts SPs into tackling for a QB, well he is just dumb. But certain VAs aren't as clear and can be misleading in their description on how effective they are. I am glad I waited to use my VAs until information was passed on them, but some VAs were made and are clearly misleading and not effective, and if they are directed towards a position and not worth using, then Bort should consider allowing people a chance to remove VPs from them while he works on tweaking there effectiveness.

But IMO, I see points on both sides of the argument Just playing devils advocate here.

Devil's Advocate is a role I know all too well. Don't think I'm attacking you, personally, just the idea of a flat out reset with no justification.

IF there are VAs that are just flat out misleading, then refunding the points put into that specific VA, I could agree with.

I like the notion of tweaking/adding new vet abilities , good work Staz. I can see you put alot of work into this.
I just have to say, from a "quality, not quantity" standpoint, I would think it might be more effective if you "trimmed it down" a bit.
( not to say there aren't alot of good ideas in there, there are, it's just there's way to many of em...)
Maybe we could look over all of them and discuss which ones are most needed , and which ones the game could do without (due to "unbalancing" issues, or no "counter" to the va, ect...)
After reading thru about half of the OP ( I'll read the rest later and find more I like I'm sure) , I like these ones so far:

Big Hands, Tight Fit , Big Return, Jab Step / Bump& Run
Beat man coverage (possibly rename to something a bit-more catchy?)
Push Off (possibly make the counter to it / Tattle Tail ; this CB hates being pushed around, and is more likely to signal ref and get an Offensive Pass Interference flag thrown 3% per pt) ?

If it doesn't have my name by it, it's not my work

I simply just copy, paste, and format. The ideas have come mainly from all the guys perusing this forum.

As for the Quality vs Quantity thing, I basically just put in what's suggested. The ones that had the %s, exact effects, and reasonable explanations are in the **** section. I'm putting as many out there, in hopes that Bort either:

A. Incorporates one exactly
B. Is inspired by one listed to create something similar
C. Is able to say "this wouldn't work" and turn something down

I was hoping to have more discussion on some of those listed, and have people attempt to work out formulas, %s, effects, etc. We've done that a bit on some, but for the most part it's been simply suggestion after suggestion.

The question is... WHICH 15 new VAs will be added? There is really only ONE VA in here that I care about Bort adding (Truck). Well, maybe some of the blocking ones since I have an up and coming OT that will start getting VXP next season, but Truck for my HB is the big one.

I stopped going through the updated list once I reached these.

-Go Getter (BengalDuck): Gives +1% chance to catching ball with defender near
-Ball Fight (GG): (Merged with Beat Man Coverage and 40" Vertical)): When covered in tight man coverage, the player gets +1%/level to Speed, Agility, Jumping, and Catching (until the ball is caught, if it is; no extra help for YAC). He also gets, in any coverage, a +1%/level bonus to his chance to catch a tipped pass. Prereq: 40 Jumping. (Ken1)

Go Getter - INCREASE HIS PROBABILITY OF CATCHING A PASS WHEN COVERED BY 3 DEFENDERS FROM 85% TO 95%

Ball Fight - GIVE YOUR WR AN INCREASE TO 4 STATS, AND 1 INCREASE TO A SITUATION.

amirite?

My defense of Ball Fight is simple: It needs to be very hard to play tight man coverage. Very few teams play medium or far, and only a few more play zones.

The idea is to have a counter to tight man coverage, so it isn't so obvious that that's the one best way to play. I hope it's added and that In The Neighborhood is also added, giving a bonus to defenders in looser coverages.

Here's some more, I guess:

Leverage: This player has learned to use leverage and positioning in order to gain an advantage in blocking his opponent. Each level gives a +1% bonus to holding a block.

Wide Range: This player has great lateral movement and can play sideline to sideline. Each level gives a 1% bonus to speed, vision, and agility when having to cover RBs out of the backfield or running off tackle.

Downhill Defender: This defender excels against the run. Each level gives him a +1% bonus to breaking blocks and a +1% bonus to tackling on running plays.

Low Center of Gravity: This player knows that staying low is the best way to beat off a blocker and hold his gap. Each level gives a +2% bonus to holding his ground against a blocker and avoid being pushed back.

Arm Bar: This receiver has learned what he can and can't get away with while being covered. Each level gives a +1% bonus to pushing off from the defender when going up for a reception.

Tough: This player is tough as nails. Each level reduces the effects of stamina reduction (getting tackled, run over, pancaked, etc) by -5%.

Fast Hands: This defender has learned to use his hands to get a blocker off of him. Each level gives a +1% bonus to breaking blocks.

WIth all the new demoralizing VAs, I'm surprised this one hasn't been added yet:

Punishing Runner: This runner dishes out more than he takes. When tackled there is a 2% chance per level that the tackler takes an extra hit to energy and in game morale.
