I like Sabban, but you can not trust his word. That is the part that gets me. If you want to leave, then fine, but do not say you are here for 5 years and leave the next.

Perriloux was nothing more than a thug. Funny thing that he did not want to play in Texas because of playing time and never really got any snaps at LSU (except for the SEC Championship).

Well, even though Saban didn't have an in state school to contend with while at LSU, he still down right loaded up in the '08 class with Bama. And I would argue that the state of Alabama has a fairly decent talent pool as evidenced by the amount of highly recruited players in that '08 class (then again, not every state can be filled with blue-chippers like California, Texas, or Florida).

As for recruiting in Louisiana, I think you'd be surprised at the quality players that come out of there (the key for LSU is keeping them in-state). And let's face it, it wasn't too tough for Saban or Miles to maintain a pipeline with Texas.

Very good point. The one thing many overlook with last year's class that Saban pulled is that one of his prize recruits, Mark Ingram, is from Michigan and Saban still has ties there so that opens up the northeast to him as well. He is hands down the best recruiting head coach in America and that is scary considering how much control he has at Bama now.

That was the problem in the past, keeping kids from LA leaving the state. LSU has only become a power house in the last decade. It was not that long ago that LSU was middle to the lower part of the pact. Thanks in part to Sabban, LSU started to grow.

Sabban's biggest attribute is his coaching style in getting ready for a game / game planning. He installs in kids that his way is proven and will work. Either way you want to play the recruiting game, the SEC will continue to pull blue chip players from around the states, as it is basically a double A systm to jumping to the pros.
