Yeah those games after they were gutted really inflated the stats. Good call.

The thing is that I take the stats straight from the GLB compiled stats and plug them in. I would have to subtract all stats from the teams who played them gutted and recalculate everything and then plug it in. I can't think of any other way to do it and I can't even imagine how long that would take to do manually.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to suggest them.

One thing about using this data is that the two data pools are completely disconnected. I don't think its fair to look at this and conclude Slashers are #1 overall and Fury is #2 overall. Someone earlier commented about the "clumping" where you had 4-5 western teams ranked right near at the top and then 4-5 eastern teams in the 7-12 range. I think that gives a fair look at the makeup of each conference and that is a legitimate conclusion to draw. The correlation between A6 East and A6 West however, is nill. No more so then if you were to input the data between A6 East and A3 West.

Definately agree, but its cool to see the 3's worked liek that. It does give a somewhat accurate respresentation of the stats so its cool in that regard. You can definately draw conclusions from it, but to take them for the holy gospel would be foolish. Interesting to see. I thought we had the #1 run D Damn Slshers

What decides who is what rank? We have a total of 29 and our overall Offense is 4 and D is 1. I would assume we'd be in the top 5.

Nice work though.

Yeah that's a fair conclusion. I don't know if anyone has come up with a fool proof power ranking spreadsheet yet. Almost all the ones I've seen are for entertainment value and don't necessarily have much fact to support them.

I'm not sure how it comes up with the final rankings canes. It has a large number of different formulas and outputs. The outputs range anywhere from predicted passing totals to win/loss chance on a team by team basis. I don't think there is a way to copy paste those and make it look readable on here though. Most of it is not very decipherable anyway. Still, if someone wants the file I worked up I'm willing to post it here so you can load it up on the spreadsheet to mess around with it. It would save lots of time.

I really like these power rankings. I think they fairly accurately reflect the differences between the two conferences. The West appears top-heavy, with 5 of the top 7 teams, while the East is deeper, with 11 of the top 19.

On a side note, I see that the Isotopes are now the Isotopped. I assume they got hit with the name change due to sharing a name with a minor league baseball team.

That is exactly what happened to our team in Albuquerque - Bort dropped the hammer on us for copyright infringement and made us change our name due to the minor league baseball team. We are now the Los Alamos Isotopes - our forum was very active with team name options, but in the end we wanted to keep the Isotopes name.

I'm not the kind of person to know how to do this, but it seems like it should be possible to write a grease monkey script that does this for you. Hey, maybe one even exists already. It's not as if this is only league where this is a problem.

I haven't forgotten about doing an update on the power rankings. The numbers won't change much over a two week period so I think I might just wait til the last game of the regular season and do an update then.

The numbers always change. But really, it is cool to see. Does it mean a whole lot? Not really. It is kind of like arguing who is better in NFL from the ESPN power rankings or who is better in NCAA from the coaches poll or one of the computer polls. There will always be something to bitch about as there is always some bias put into any of these.

With that said, nice work. I love seeing more added to the league forums. Controversy is always a good thing to spur conversation as well. Hell, just throw some team who doesn't deserve it as #1 next time just to see what people say Keep up the good work

Lol thats a good idea! Yea Ops welcomes the constructive criticism, some other guys would post the same thing in the forum and if someone said anything critical about it at all, the poster would get all defensive and soft about it, then we would have some fun picking on em for it lol. Ofcoarse its not perfect or we would just run it and stop playing games. Contreversey is fun but it gets old thats for sure. What doesn't get old is seeing Tana River taking down the B.M.O.C. That, I could watch all day.

Im gonna make Ops do one sooner, I think things may have changed a bit, even if I have to put in the #'s I will...Wish it was easier to add/subtract different parts of the formula but that stuff is all hogwash to me anyway.
Edit for my horrible grammar

Haha! Sorry man, nothing personal ofcoarse, its awesome seeing the upsets when its not you lol

But i get what I ask for and now cuz theres a 3-way tie for 13-2, the Bugs will probably end the season in the #2 spot even though we beat them and have the same record.

Well the Demolition beat the Bugeaters who beat the Hedgehogs who beat the Demolition. So with a 3 way tie head to head would be thrown out anyway.

For some reason, I don't think GLB uses head to head at any rate and uses total points scored for the first tiebreaker.

After watching the Tana, I don't know that there is an advantage to having a #1 seed over #2 or #3. There is just too much depth to the league for an easy road through the playoffs.
