Magic the Gathering is actually pretty fun. If it didn't cost an arm and a leg to be competitive and the cards didn't bottom out in value after two years, I'd still be playing it. At MSRP, the price of a box could let me eat out for a week, buy a pair of new release video games, or boost and buy CE for a CB, HB, and G for three seasons, with money left to spare. Even after traditional card shop discounts, that's still two seasons of boosts and CE .
I played it in the mid 90's, but it got washed out with all the new editions etc too fast imo. Or maybe its just that i was like 10 when i played that i remember it as more "magical"
I played from Prophecy through Judgment, and then from Ravnica through Dissention. I think its more of growing to accept the new cards through constant use. Though, there were a few abilities where I just had to ask, "Why?"
