ya that's one of my CB's. you won't face many players anywhere with that kind of speed.

quite a game. haven't watched all of it yet. i have to say, i was confident in the strength of our secondary but the results were unexpected...obviously i thought we could play you man-free but wow i didn't think we'd quite pull it off quite like that.

so our double-header has come and gone and we won both games against two very good teams. we faced the top HB, top QB, and top WR in a period of a couple hours and were able to win.

can we put it to bed now that the Spartans haven't beaten anyone?

now i just gotta figure out this Frankfurt stuff...

with our offensive strategy I wouldn't quite say you "faced" the best HB

well good thing it doesn't matter what you say then I could say you didn't "face" our LB group too. or the league's best run stoppers. I could say you didn't "face" our triple-headed monster backfield because we didn't run the ball 50 times. Hell, i had primarily a run defense out there so i guess i could say you didn't "face" our secondary and real pass defense?

Bullrush had a 2.7 avg on 13 carries (which was better than the team avg of 2.1ypc). if he had gotten 10 more rushes he'd have had 7.7ypc? He's a great back and yes, we 'faced' him. Next time may well be different. But this time we shut down everything and we'll go ahead and be proud of that fact.

lol we barely used him at all, trust me.

obviously you didn't give him the ball as much as usual. but i don't see any reason to think he'd have done better in that game with more carries.

The point is this, when he did get the ball he wasn't able to do anything anyway. You changed your gameplan b/c you thought you had a better shot by doing it that way, but when it still doesn't work, you haven't earned the right to come back and try to cheapen it by saying 'well durrrrr it wasn't our normal gameplan.' Funny thing is, as it turns out, passing on us was the right thing to do in that game b/c i had set up for the run and you guys did have some success through the air against us.

In that game your normal gameplan would not have worked. That's just the truth. Maybe if/when we meet again in the playoffs things will be different. If you thought you could just line up and beat us with Bullrush you would have done it.



My statement that we faced the #1 HB in the league is absolutely true and your attempt at copping out is beyond irritating. Fact of the matter is, we 'faced' him before the game even started when your OC decided he needed to change the gameplan (was it because he thought changing the gameplan was the worse thing to do?)

The gameplan change was suggested initially by me because, being at the top of the yardage table, it might seem natural that I would want to maintain that.

But then.. once we'd decided to throw the ball... I began to worry that it was just too obvious a strategy and you'd second guess us.. but we stuck with it.

Before the game, we'd pretty much decided that a loss by 14 or less was a bloody good result (so you beat us by one on our terms).

The game did however generate a lot of interest in our forum, and some builds have been looked at and alternative strategies for the future put in place.

We're all fairly happy with our 1st season so far here at SOT.
