I had to do what was best for the team and offload them now or wait until the contracts expire and kill my chemistry. This was the last thing i wanted but the players made their choices. I even gave them the opportunity to find their own trades and asked for ideas and not evena single post for 3 days. I'm sorry if you think I'm a POS but I'd rather get relegated then have to deal with all the BS. Medic is a friend of mine and he agrees with my decision.

Actually, letting their contracts expire in the offseason would have had much less impact that trading them during double chemistry hits.

Also, being relegated from A to BBB isn't a huge dropoff. Neither league was capped when introduced, so levels there aren't much different than here.

He didn't take the double chem hit, he is within his 3 day window.

While I'm disappointed by most of the players decision to move on, for the Shockers team it was better to get cash now to put into the stadium for next season then win 2-3 games the rest of the season, and then have no money to expand the stadium or players to play in the lesser stadium.

The Shockers will now have so already commited players to bring in, money from expanding the stadium to aggresively go after FA's.

It is matt's team now but in my opinion it really was the better move for the long run for the Shockers when he couldn't get many of the current players to commit longer then day 40

Your team, your choice matt.

In all honesty though, rather than coming in as a new owner and beleiving people would automatically extend with you, you could have made a concious effort to get to know your players and build trust. Things like pre-game scouting, post-game recaps, and even shooting them PMs about what their current feelings/opinions of the team are could go a long way. I have no doubt that if you didn't gut the team for cash, you'd have a large number of the players re-signing if u played your cards right.

No player in their right mind is going to extend their contract with a new owner out of the blue, give them time. I mean hell, I traded for an agent who had 2 "rental" players who planned to move them to his own team after this season. I talked to him before the trade, said I really don't like the idea of renting players for a season, but I had such a need at the 2 positions that I was seriously considering it due to my lack of ability to successfully recruit anyone. I told him I'd gladly trade for his guys, but I need at least a 1% chance of convincing them to extend. He said I had about a 5% chance. After a couple days hanging out in our team forum, and after our first game recap at the beggining of the season, the agent PMed me and told me to give him multi-year deals...

I really do wish you luck, but you've taken your team down a much tougher road. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to recruit players to a gutted team...

+1

It would have been much easier to let your players play out their contracts and sign new talent as you went along as opposed to gutting the team and starting from scratch. Seems you either didnt think it through or your reasons for gutting the team are BS. You only make it harder for yourself to recruit new players, whose going to want to join a team that has nobody on it?

It would've been much easier to just keep playing, and sign new talent, and as my friends Wiseman said, there is a very good chance that if you had only shown your players some effort, than a good amount of them probably will have stayed.

This game is about playing football, building the stadium is a distant second, if even that. Now your building the stadium so you have enough money to pay lucrative contracts, well, your not going to have any money until that stadium starts paying you back, which will take some time. And, any players that need lucrative contracts to be convinced to join your team, are definately not players I would sign to mine. You won't be relegated this season, those being relegated are already 'etched in stone'.

Good-luck in the future, but now your just a team that A6 is going to mop the floor with.

Well, coming in and taking on a new team is a real headache. I honestly don't understand why people gut teams, but they are certainly between a rock and a hard place as far as that goes. I think there is a potentially a problem with the league structures where they should not expand by a factor of 2 going down each level past a certain point. Especially when you look at USA, I think it would be better to have BBB, BB, B and maybe even some C leagues. That way if you lose a bunch of guys you still stand a chance of competing somewhere after getting relegated. If you're only 3-5 levels lower than the league average, it's nearly impossible to win so you need more levels to differentiate the talent.

I had to make the choice of either lose everyone at the end of the season and have no money or get as much cash possible for them now and make sure I can build on to the stadium and bring in players at a later date. I chose the best option for the team to ensure it will be able to continue on. We have a complete stadium now and are bringing in a bunch of level 1's to keep the salary cap down and give each player enough to train on intense for the entire next season. We will grow by leaps and bounds as we won't boost until the season is over and should be caught up with everyone level wise with our new build plans to make us competitive by the middle of season 6. If anyone is interested in creating some new players for fun let me know and you are more than welcome to join.

The main thing about what you did is that it becomes impossible to recruit quality free agents. Nobody in their right mind will sign with a gutted team, while a team that has a few holes is far easier to plug up.

Don't have to worry about that we are signing level 1 players for development for other teams for later dates. We are also power building them so we can ensure they are built correctly.

So the Shockers being competitive is just a thing of the past? Nobody really likes playing your POS team and just running up the score for another season against your crap isnt fun for us.
