My point exactly. Do not gut the team at all. Keep building the championship caliper team. You do not have to start over. Just start with a new and improve owner. Most new owners during the season would give their left nut for a team this good.

Problem is if Matt doesnt stay on, we are screwed as he was the heart and soul of our team.

Cordes, even without GM status, you're a big part of the reason that team was able to stick together. A team thrives with active posters, and knowledgeable players. You and Matt can both offer a portion of your time to help the owner out when he arrives; assuming his intent is to continue the Crush tradition. That way neither is sacrificing too much from the other team you're working with, your players still have a caliber team to play for, and you keep good relations with the other agents on the team.

Maybe Matt will get the GM job from the new owner. Mention to the new owner in your forums how he was the heart and soul of the team. I realize that Matt does not have the time to devote to your team as before, but another day or two to get the new owner going in the right direction should be fine. Also, the new owner might know a lot about GLB and fly this thing by himself with no problems.

My point is, do not throw in the towel before you see what happens tomorrow with the new owner. This might be the missing piece in the puzzle that you need.

The general consensus is to give the guy a shot. I'm hoping its a good guy.

I am definitely willing to help out. I won't be able to give a ton of time, but I'll do what I can to keep us together.

That really sucks. I hope the new owner will take care of the players and do the right thing.

Just curious as to what the "right" thing is in your mind.

If I was the new owner I would ask who wanted to stay and who wanted to go. I would honor that. I don't want players on my team that don't want to be there.

That's the hard way to do it. The new owner would have to recruit players to replace the ones that want to leave. That's the right thing to do as far as I am concerned. I know very well that is not how all owners operate.

Just offering to let some players leave may earn the new owner some respect from the current players, Some may decide to stay on and give him a chance.

I would probably be a little different owner. I would come in and be very happy that I got a great team. Then I would try to see what happened and why the old owner left a great situation. Then I would tell the players to give me a chance to see what I can do and I will let anyone leave that wanted to at the end of the season.

That would give me a little bit of time to show them that I am the type of owner that they needed from the start. If anybody was not happy, they would be gone in a couple of weeks.

Of course, none of the players would be playing in this league next year. We would all be playing in Canadian AA league next year . Got to laugh a little everyday or you are not enjoying life.

I'm gonna give the new guys a chance, and I suggest the rest of Van. does too. I would hate to have waited for a team so long then be prejudged as incapable of winning by the team I bought.

I don't know how to be an owner; that's why XUMuskie85 bought the team. I've offered my services now and I'm confident in my recruiting, and helping START a team; but coming in gutted?

You have to be convinced yourself that there is promise of success before you start convinving anyone else. Maybe I'm too honest... but I couldn't turn a borderline gutted team into anything special.

I would try to get to know the people who have contracts, let them know me, my experiences both in the game and out; my knowledge of football; and let it go from there. Sure if people are insisitent to be released, I would work them into a situation where the don't disrupt the team. I still don't see a reason to leave a team just because the owner leaves, especially if he's been called out as a crappy owner in the first place.

GLB needs more players like you.

Wow, and some players are on long term. You sure took yourself out of there right quick, though.

After season 3, I believe Mattman didn't have any players on Vancouver, having moved the one or two to his expansion team to make way for the new recruits. With that, he doesn't have any other ties to Vancouver other than his short "history" with the team.

---

I'm going to at least give the new owner a chance. If he makes a good impression and shows that he actually cares, I'll sign my player until the end of the season before making a final judgment.

Mattman was the core of the team, as none of the other GMs put in a fraction of the work that Mattman did (I have no idea what PunkOnTheCorner's job was, broncofan started to become "highly active" this season, posting three times a week, you all remember ninjoe, and then this new guy). All of the players on the team are great as well, and our forums were reasonably active. If Mattman decides that he'll be leaving for good, I'll understand his decision, but the team won't be the same.

The biggest problem for Vancouver is that we're out our starting HB and CB, and contracts expire on 13 players in a few days. Our depth can absorb some of the loss, but in the mix are our CB2, both of our backup guards, our starting SS, and nearly our entire WR core. The CBs and WRs will be especially hard to replace, as the market for both is insane.

I have every intention of talking to this new owner and see if I can atleast get GM status to prepare us for Laval. Maybe he would even let me stay on as some sort of 'consultant' at the very least. But its also possible he may know more than me too, so we will have to see what happens.
The team is solid, and it can go a long way. The players deserve better than they got, I should've kept a tighter leash on the owner.(sounds really backwards)

I tried to talk to our old owner, broncofan, but he blocked me.
I tried to talk to the new GM that traded away 4 of our core players for 2 guys we didnt need. But he told me the trades he made were none of my business and that I dont know why he made them so I should shutup. Okay.

Im praying this new owner is half decent, which would make him twice the owner bronco was. We will see.
If anyone from Crush wants to give that GM or Bronco any grief, PM me, I will gladly give you their contact info.

Most importantly, we need to get ready for Laval. Hopefully my AI isnt erased

Flash Dash was released before the old owner sold the team. I just came back from work and noticed that he's a free agent. So, if anyone is interested, I'll be accepting offers soon.

I'm the kind of person who always plans for and expects the worst, that way when it doesn't happen I can be happy rather then disappointed.

I am definitely going to try and work something out with the new owner for the guards at the very least since they are very important to the team. One of my OTs is 2nd back up so he still plays a bit of a role, but my Center and 2nd OT on the team are just buried and see just a few plays a game, I'd much rather get them on a capped team where they can at least contribute.

I really do hope that the new owner knows his shit and strives to keep the team together and we can push forward, but there are a lot of factors against that. We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings after Roll-over.
