You did a good job recruiting.

Again, its a shame we all have to go to these lengths, but it should be interesting.

You don't HAVE to go to "these lengths". You chose to do so.

dont be bitter, man, you got a level 21 on your squad.

Lucius had to make a tough call and treat the game like business NFL style. He went to almost every single agent on his team and offered to cut them because he had to bring in higher level players in order to compete against an uncapped league. Imagine telling your entire team that you were sorry to inform them but they werent going to be starting or they werent going to be on the team anymore two days after they just took you to an undefeated championship in an infant division.

1/2 of the agents from the championship run arent on the squad anymore. The starters that were relegated to back-ups understand whats going on, and we want to take another run at the championship with an owner that is reliable that has good communication skills.

Dont hate, homie, keep up and excell instead

Haha - its the rest of us that are being forced to compete in an uncapped league because of situations like this. Nice try though.

Personally I'm not interested in buying up a new group of ringers each season. We're building with what we have and we'll be successful and have fun with it.

ashes: Your puerile use of "homie" serves as a more obvious indicator of substandard intelligence than your inability to spell.

raiderdav: 100% with you, man. I hope my team stays together, as I'm looking to have fun and "grow" my players with a few online compadres rather than screwing people (especially "teammates") to win simulated "championships".

But to each his own, I suppose.

whoa, nancy, go bleed your emo tears somewhere else. No one was in here bragging about winning anything from last year. Your bitterness at your own mediocrity is sliding down your cheeks in the form of big angry tears. Go pull the dress off your face and wash up a bit, your mascara is smeared

LOL

Well puerile is correctly spelled but that's not the point. I find it that the people who complain most about higher level teams are the ones that sent out hundreds of offers and were unable to get any of them to sign.

I hardly call releasing a player to sign a better one "screwing someone over". Yes they are simulated "championships" but that's one of the main points of the game, to win them. I know I didn't spend a few bucks to not try and win. If you want online "compadres" to have fun with then stick to Myspace.

I'm not an owner, so I did not send out offers.

If an owner (lucius) believes that "its a shame we all have to go to these lengths", is it surprising that some players might share that perception?

There are owners (raiderdav) who did not feel they had to make the choice of wholesale dismemberment of their team. I expressed support for his position. While I could be reading too much into it, is it unreasonable to suspect that there was a camaraderie among the agents of that team that the owner deemed worth keeping?

That being said, I need to remember this is a beta - as things shake out over the next couple of seasons maybe some means will be found to make either approach to building a competitive team viable.

Im in 4 different leagues. To me all the leagues are competitive from what I have seen wether they dismantled their teams or not.

That's what chemistry is for... those of us who rebuilt large parts of our teams have taken chem hits while those of you who stuck with the old roster have kept chemistry high.

It's hard to say who "forced" us all to go recruit new players, but I know Yukon wants to put the best team we can on the field. That means recruiting hard and making tough decisions but this is a GAME and the goal is to WIN and that's what we're doing.

Let's say you were playing a different kind of MMORPG (I'm not big into these, but WoW would be a good example). Your player (or whatever they call them in that game) is the "team" you own, and your equipment (shields, weapons, etc) are the "players" on your team. When you are able to upgrade to that super sweet new tri-blade battle axe you do it right? You don't say "oh, I have a duty to my bi-bladed axe so I can't upgrade right now", you save up the money to buy the new one and you're really excited you got it because it lets you go kill things you couldn't kill before.

I agree with you, but there is one thing wrong with your analogy. The upgrades on your WoW are not owned by other people, who have input into your team and contribute to your forum and are either fun/not fun to interact with. I get your point, though. It is necessary to upgrade your roster spots just to stay competitive with the rest of the league.

The bottom line is, it is inevitable that the league goes up like it does. We chose to compete rather than grow as a unit, which is something I wrestled with and somewhat of a shame. Honestly, all things being equal, I'd rather have stayed together as a unit. However, doing that guarantees failure. A certain percentage of players will leave for their own perfectly valid reasons. We brought in fresh players and made demotions, but we didn't hold people hostage and made sure people were informed of their role and able to leave if they wanted.

We did what the game forces any team with hopes of victory to do.

If you want to grow as a unit, that's a perfectly noble approach and I hope it works out for you. In fact, I truly hope the game grows to reward that approach over the complete turnover version. But as it exists now, turnover is the best path to success.

Doing it differently though is not wrong, so long as you're honest and fair with your players, I don't see the problem with doing this. I just think it would be more fun in the long run if the other approach was more viable, hence the shame comment.

I think one thing it would be really cool for GLB to do would be to make a no boosting league, in which players COULD NOT boost. This would really help to separate the casual player from the competitive player and make it easier for teams to stay together. If you keep a non-booster on your team for 2 full season, you've missed out on him improving by 6 levels, which is obviously HUGE in this game at this point.

Well, to be fair, boosting is likely their primary source of renewable income in this game. That just doesn't make business sense.

I suspect some of their decisions lately are helping, but I think someone hit on it before when they suggested leagues where players, not teams advance. Then players would be more driven to sign at higher levels.
