What the hell is with all these players that want GM spots now all of a sudden? I keep seeing people signed and wanting GM spots.

yeah, I've never understood signing someone and giving him a gm spot as part of the gig. I've yet to see a player that I would sign and give him a gm spot as part of the signing...

That has been suicide for several owners.

We are fortunate enough to have other players we can bring in that we have built.Geeez some of these guys have really bad builds and act like they should get a few million dollars for being backups.Even though they are a level or two above our starters they are way behind our builds.

Everyone we're bringing in is internal or on referral.

The owners/gms in this game are rapidly being shifted in to two groups: 1) those that have one way or another tapped in to a network of players and are able to recruit through referrals or inquiries as a result of their reputation and 2) the poor bastards that have to wade through the cesspools that are the trade block/FA forums.

lol, no kidding! The day I'm so desperate that I have to hand over keys to the car just to sign one player then I'll probably sell the team anyway.

I have read some nightmares about players being cut and signed by other teams they GM along with giving out big bonus's.Some have literally drained teams of all assets including players and money.

While I do try to recruit through a 'network', I also like to bring in fresh faces...at least one a season if possible.

That was what we had in mind to help the forums grow and make it a little more outside of the norm.Unfortunately there just is not a very good pool of players to chose from.

Not to mention how much harder it is to recruit people when you don't have a winning record.

QFT - There are a lot of informal and formal networks (check out CoachZ's webpage) that are proliferating. I think Bort has recognized this is here to stay, so he's included the guilds as possible future department.

Yeah, we got 2 new guys coming in with players and 2 players from owners we already have on the team.

Looks like RAL is getting gutted.... it appears that losing 3 seasons in a row in the Austin Bowl has demoralized them.

Why oh why do you gut your teams ????

Well I can only speculate but if it were to happen to my team, hypothetically, it would be because there's only a few of us and if we decide to quit then most likely all of our players would be retired. God forbid that should happen but at some point every owner is likely to pull the plug. Sadly enough, the NFL has seen its fair share of gutted teams in it's history also.
