Offseason!? Hell I been frantically trying to sign FA at decent levels (17+) ever since I became a GM. Cro has been too. We can't compete with Pro teams or teams that have won or on the verge of winning a championship. I can't begin to tell you how many of the FA's we sent offers to accepted the same contract type (length, trade clauses) only anywhere from $25K to $50K less than what we offered them. And we don't skimp out on the bonuses either which have ranged from $50K to $100K, and still get rejected because our team isn't a playoff caliber team or championship contender. I even tell them we have new management and our team was gutted but it makes no difference what I say to them. Only one deal got blown with a level 16 DE with 3 boosts left, I had him interested in our team, everything was good to go but as I was doing up the contract I had to talk to some one quick and when I came back he signed with another team for less money then what I was going to offer. It's beyond frustrating. Fortunately I have a couple buddies who play that were willing to join our team, one's a unboosted level 18 or 19 guard and the other is an unboosted level 20+ guard. One's contract runs up in a few days, the other at the beginning of next year and that's if they still want to join our team anymore or join a Pro team like everyone is.
Top players want to go to top teams.
Stop throwing money at them... it's just financially irresponsible. Find some D-league players who want to BUILD a good team and will play for less.
Our guys want to play for us and weren't 20
s when we got them...
throwing money around will just make you poor.
Well thank you for the financial tip Merrill Lynch. D-league players are at level 7 and under as far as I'm aware of. So what good is it to field a team of level 7's that play cheap in this conference? I realize top players want to go to top teams, hence the reason I said we can't compete with Pro level teams, but I'm hoping to land 1 or 2. I'm sure the guys you got on your team was when the majority of levels on your team were a lot less, from the looks of it you all started near them same time and know each other somewhat from your team's website, so the guys on your team grew together, and that's why you didn't get any at level 20 or higher, because you didn't need to. We aren't throwing money at any Joe Blow we see, we have a couple positions we feel need to be addressed asap, and we find the top available FA and offer him a very competitive contract plus bonuses for equipment. It's not like we are dangling $250+K contracts to FA's.
