I replied to pwned because I’ve been using his/peejjk’s season 112 stuff, please don’t welcome me to GLB. I hate it here and been here far too long as it is.

This is the reality: once you understand how to train and assign skill points properly, the gap between builds becomes very small. The “best” builds are already out there. I’ve made players that were mathematically perfect—literally no way to build them better on paper. But that doesn’t guarantee they’ll dominate in-game.

Take strength for a WR as an example. It has no ALGs, so investing in it early actually lowers player value. Still, if you push it high enough, it can shine in contested catches. That’s why chasing the highest EL isn’t everything—it’s about balance.

Another case is a strength-focused speed back I built. On paper, pumping strength into a speed back hurts their effective level, but in practice, it sometimes made them a better overall player.

The biggest gap I see comes from players who gut their builds just to unlock the 4th piece of equipment. Most will throw away 200+ skill points of value for a measly +3 bonus and 24 skill points in an SA that’s often penalized anyway.

Yeah I've been playing now for like 7 seasons I think and every single dot I built with 3AEQ and a prolonged multi training period ended up much better dots, performing better than my other generations of dots where I started light training end of S2 to hit enough BPs.

I don't think I'll go 4AEQ on a single dot ever again.

I always been on the fence about a 4th AEQ. I feel like more SPs instead would be a better use of those BTs but who knows.

I'm not entirely against it, I should clarify. I can see it's value in some positions (more so on defense). If I'm looking to add another % I like to go the 3.5/3.75 pieces of advanced. What that is:

1. +3 / +5% #1 - Fully upgraded x 10

2. +3 / +5% #2 - Fully upgraded x 10

3. +3 / +5% #1 - Upgrade x 8 or 9

4. +2 / +3% #2 or SA - UPgrade x 8

You end up with +55 but you have nearly 4 pieces of advanced equipment with the "bonus". I do this if I roll really well and have bonus tokens left over and can afford it. It's a good way of getting that piece without actually breaking the player to get there.

Depends on the position. DL for instance 100% for 4, whereas OL 3. There are some positions that dictate either 3 or 4 depending on the schemes of the team or your dot's role.

A good rule of thumb is if % pieces are primary for a position, NEVER skimp! Zero exceptions

KoB is spot on

I used to be fairly solid on 3 aeq but with the new building approach its far more "controllable" to get in the race for 4 pieces AND still produce a relatively high elv w/o skimping on SAs

Yeah for my 4 AEQ dots I only upgrade the final piece to 9-10. But even then, and with good shop rolls I still don't think its worth the SP trade offs from stopping multi training sooner.

Can you elaborate how it's far more controllable now?

You can stack up more TPs and take more time to build the dot correctly etc....The old days of boosting 22 to 25 because that was the done thing...or 32 ? for vPs etc....Boost at lvl 69 or the world will spin off its axis etc !!! You can use those boosts specifically to apply more into a Primary early etc or go into Quad training early etc....It also seems easier to work out AEQ requirements.

Of course Im old and just had an encounter with the Mobs speedy McSpeedy FB who must have Speed over 170...Even Faster when my lumbering MLB is chasing him down 20 yds behind. One of these days he get him maybe !!! ....

I never completed a dot before the dotpocalpyse so appreciate the info. I forgot about the 22 to 25 boosts. If you like 4 pieces of AEQ I'd really think you'd like my way to build them, not capping A1 right away and saving lots of BTs. I never intense train to start so I end up with nearly all my upgrades and enhancements completed by Day 4 or Day 5. Multi training A1, A2, A3, A4 the entire 1st season.

Season 2 you'll mix in a little of A5 but when A2, A3, A4 all hit severe valleys it aligns perfectly with A1 to be able to light train at 89/90. I set this to auto train until it flips at 94 and then continue multi training (typically flipping A1 one more time before taking it to 99% and being done with it). My QB (https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4896078) is currently in this build and you can see that it aligns really well with crappy training valleys.

Not trying to tell you how to build by any means, you're a great dot builder and I learned a lot from what you've shared over the years. I'm an open book to everything I've learned here and think it's important to share strategies.

I was thinking about doing a 170 TE this upcoming season. Does a 170 speed FB have a major impact then? Sounds like a fun build.
